i tried to install windows xp pro on my xp home edition. just upgrade..the problem came when the system ask me the cd with the file pcouffin.sys... what i know is that file is also part of dvdxcopy.. but when i try to install it the system crash and the blue screen appears....there is no other solution than to give it the correct pcouffin.sys file because the upgrade installation is not finished and i cannot go back to my home edition version.. if somebody can help me it would be really good...

I really don't want to format my hard disk because i have no backup of it.thanks in advance.

Did this happen whilst updateing the OS or after you updated the OS...If after then all you gota do is either Uninstall your writeing software then Reinstall it....
If dureing the Upgrade then the upgrade is not upgradeing properly...Allways best to ReFormat n do a Fresh Clean Install of XP..
Have you tried clicking cancell when it asks about "pcouffin" then continueing with the upgrade! or does it stop the instalation of the upgrade..
