| Re: what can i use to store the structure of my hd? If you are asking how to restore what you backed up, the same software you used to create the image, should have a restore function. However, you will likely have to use a windows restore cd to reload windows, then reload your recovery software, then restore your image.

Keep using Acronis. You can restore the saved image with the same program if you have a software problem. However If the HDD gets buggered and you have the image saved in the same HDD there is nothing you can do about it. You lost everything. For that reason Alone is a good idea to have a second HDD as a slave drive where you save all your data and your HDD inages. And I say images because you must keep updating them. Alternatively save your HDD images to DVD if you dont have a slave HDD. Never in the same HDD you are imaging. Before you make an image you must first clean the HDD, scan for viruses and ad/spyware, and defrag. John | |
