Vinyl to cd format

Hi, everyone!
i do not know if here is the right place to put my questions.
i apologize if i'm wrong...

i've almost 500 very old vinyl discs. i'like to put some of them in CD format and i heard this is possible.

Can anybody help me teaching me what programs or things i need and how to proceede to achieve my goal?

thanks in advance.

Re: Vinyl to cd format

I have converted many of my LP's to CD.
If you have a good quality record deck then I would buy or make a preamp with the necessary RIAA correction built in.
I bought a kit and built it myself for £10. I have seen ready built units for £20.
As for software, if you have nero you already have the soft ware. I have used this and it works fine, I now use the software that came with my creative sound card as I prefer it.
I used the same software to put some cassette tapes onto CD, just use the Hiss and Crackle correction sparingly.
It can be time consuming but for the music no longer in the catalog's it's the only way.
I used the decks from my hi-fi units which are very good. Remember though poor quality in = poor quality out.
