Tribes trouble from backup - Club CDFreaks

A friend of mine was trying to use a copy of Tribes on an 80min CD. but when he put it in the CD drive it kept trying to read it and it locked up his system I don't get it, I used the same CD on my system and it worked fine, no difference from the original. The only things that I can see that might be a problem are:
1. He should install from the original Tribes CD first
2. Maby he can't read 80min CD's. I doubt this since he has a DVD drive. That should be able to read from an 80min CD right?

Any sugestions?

Mayby he couldn't read your burned CD.
It has a refection that the his cd-rom can't read. Try to burn it in a athor cd-r\
