Simcity 4 problems! - Club CDFreaks

Hi everybody,

I have got simciy 4. It seems to be that the game is working very good. But when I play 10 minutes or something it is going back to windows. When I try to save the game, it returns to windows and then it says VXD error. I know VXD is the sound, but i tried every sound setting! Does somebody know the problem???

What kind of soundcard are you using? Drivers etc?

vxd is a driver (or a collection of them, afaik), not necessarily for your soundcard. does windows throw a specific *.vxd name out? if so, what is it?

the most time, windows does not give an error. Whe i try to save the game, it just brings me back to the desktop, and the game is closed! It says nothing! I don't like to play the game on this way, because you can't save it! But sometimes he saves it!?!?!?! The other time not. I don't understand it! Help me

sound card info: SiS direct sound driver, sndmid.vxd v4.11
Silicon Integrated systems

I have got the newest drivers, for directX too. I don't know the problem....

Off hand I can't remember what the patch does, (gameplay or hardware issues) but have you downloaded and installed it?

Also what OS, motherboard etc do you have?

Just checked the patch readme.

If you havn't installed the patch then do because,
"Added support for crash report generator. This enables the creation of a log file if the game happens to shut down unexpectedly."

This maybe helpfull in understanding your problem.

Also the patch does fix some hardware faults including SIS ones.

ok! I am now downloading the patch, i see it also fixes SiS video card problems. My videocard is also Sis, maybe the patch will fix the errors,

If you are using Winxp you can go and enable the system log and see if its screaming for attention. A lot of the times, VXD, dll, and all sorts of errors show up here.

Look at the orange button at the top 6th over from the left. It says Search. You can use this to help !!!!
