Peer to peer Norton Ghost 2003

Hi!

I have a problem here and have searched the forum for answers but no luck.
I work at a school and we have separated computer rooms with similar computers in each room.

And i want to Ghost an image i have taken from on of those computer and spread it from a server to all the machines simultaniously.

How do i do that? Is there a way to make a list of the IP-adresses the destination maskines have of some sort at the server that contains the image?

Cause i want to do this in one single operation.
The best way would be to install Ghost 2003 at the server and then make a list of all the IP-adresses i want the image to be stored to and then run the operation.

And does all the destination computers have to be powered on? And do i have to run the bootdisk of each computer before running the operation from the server?

Any reply would be appreciated!

Re: Peer to peer Norton Ghost 2003

Did you read the readme?
All PC's must have identicle hardware, then can't be similar, they must be the same.
If you want to do it over a network, you will need PXE capable NIC's and a DHCP Server running, with a large enough scope to cover all the PC's. Also, run a DNS Server, of course you will need Windows Server 2K/XP for this.

Thats just a very rought start, it would be 2 pages of passages to type out a tutorial or what you should do, Google around for some of the things I just mentioned above.

Hope that sets a good starting point...

Re: Peer to peer Norton Ghost 2003

Well all the computers have static IPs and the system can't be shut down.
And don't worry about the hardware cause it's Dell computers and they are al the same.

All the computers have Network cards that can be used with Ghost.
Everything about the hardware is correct and can be used.

It's only the software part i have problems with.
I just want an image to be spread across the network to those computers that are identical.
I have read some about it but it seems that i need to make a boot-disc for each computer. And that seems a bit of a pain in the ass!

The best thing would be to type in the IP-adresses of the destination computers from the main server that contains the image.

But ok. Correct me if i'm wrong here.

I need to make a Ghost network boot disc from each computer and boot the disc.
So now all the computers are in the main Ghost menu.

And then i should execute the operation from the server that contains the image?
Can i type in the IPs of the destination computers from the server?
