Re: NTSF DVD to PAL?

I take it you are in the USA? So you mean NTSC right? There are a few programs that will convert NTSC to PAL, but I have never used them, and from what I have read the don't work all that great. ( DVDSanta being one of the programs you could try) However, many standalone DVD players and TV's in Europe will play NTSC no problem. Plus if they are going to watch it on a PC it will work fine no matter what the broadcast standard is.

Re: NTSF DVD to PAL?

@ hastyle,

NTSC (National Television System Committee) not NTFS

I have used DVD Santa to convert a Commercial DVD Title that was in the PAL format to the NTSC format. I would assume that you could do the exact opposite.

http://www.dvdsanta.com/

You are going to need to convert your sony md camera data to the DVD format so the DVD Santa software program will do that and provide the finish product in the PAL format.

Best Regards,
bjkg

PS- It should be noted that 2 weeks ago you asked the same question in the CD Freaks Copy Movie Forum and basically got the same answer.

Re: NTSF DVD to PAL?

i cant seem to get this to work. I loaded the vob files into dvd santa, and it say unable to open videostream?!!? but it still inserts it into the dvd santa folder, i change the setting to pal. and burns it, it seems to be encoding it, as it show the footage in the preview window. after burning it. i load it on powerdvd, and its just a black screen that say dvdsanta. i check the tempory vob files, and its converting just a still image of the company logo.

Re: NTSF DVD to PAL?

DVD2SVCD has a NTSC to PAL feature. The package comes with it's own free encoder but the best choice is Cinema Craft Encoder (CCE). Version 2.50 is the best/easiest choice.

Tried it once to do this & it looked good.

Re: NTSF DVD to PAL?

I'm sure there are easier ways than this but you could open the VTS_01*.ifo files on the dvd with IfoEdit. It'll be clear that it's either PAL or NTSC.

Over here in Europe most DVD players sold these days have the ability to automatically play NTSC movies as PAL on the TV. The only issue we have is the region code. I'd suggest a check with the family first before going to this effort.

Go here .It doesn't work very well.If u have nero's vision express it can do a basic job but NTSC to PAL has never been that good of quality whatever app you use whereas PAL to NTSC produces great results.TMPG,Canopus,VirtualDub etc all do the conversion but its the process that's a pain in the a**

Re: NTSF DVD to PAL?

I would say yes. It's really the movie title set that you're interested in.
