Free/share-ware needed to search for files by TIME and date?

I'll ask y'all about this also...I've been looking for a while for a utility that will allow me to search for files by timestamps...such as time created and modified...There are numerous ways to look for date matches but that's not discrete enough...as I want to locate any file modified between, lets's say, 3:17pm and 3:32pm on Dec 18-19...I'm running W2K so any XP specific one won't work...Thanks!

why isn't windows search enough... just use detailed view to sort by, u less you got 100's or 1000's of files being generated by some software output

Total Commander (www.ghisler.com), it is a shareware.
In Advanced Search there is an option that may meet your needs.

http://www.xyplorer.com/images/shots/findfiles_date.png - looks like the "date" option of this one includes times.

And it's free for personal home use.

Not sure about others, but I find it much easier to work with a actual set of query matching files instead of a subset of a much larger list..On a given day, with all the files that W2K modifies, and if one has done installs/uninstalls of various software, finding the ones that I actually desire during a given time period is hard...so being able to isolate just those is my goal...

I'm checking out XYplorer...initial screen shots look promising... Update:
That was IT! THANKS! It even has built in function for what I do quite often...look for files "touched" in last 15 min...

Re: Free/share-ware needed to search for files by TIME and date?

A BIG round of to MattH from me! Wish I'd known about that XYplorer long before! Just some basic things it does that I am finding VERY helpful, like the ability to format the date/time columns in various ways, including AGE of file in days, so you don't have to think in terms of when now is compared to desired timeframe...I think I'm going to spending a LOT of time in this program!

Re: Free/share-ware needed to search for files by TIME and date?

I looked at Google desktop search but it does a lot of things that I don't want or need...and I didn't see on site any details about specific time based search, so I believe I'll be staying with XYplorer...which also runs from a USB stick, so it's portable, which is also valuable...

Re: Free/share-ware needed to search for files by TIME and date?

XYplorer, formerly TrackerV3, has been one of the highlights in the alt.comp.freeware newsgroup for a long time, with even the author posting and taking feedback.

Donations welcome, of course - 10 $ or EU, if you don't want to pay 25/30 for a professional licence.

Or, cynically, if you suspect the change of name may be a prelude to going no longer free, make a donation, as in most cases where that happens, voluntary donators usually end up being given a licence. (eg. Trillian).

No idea if that is likely, but the change from the rather incongruous "TrackerV3 version 4.x" to the catchy "Xyplorer" makes you wonder....
