General Software Discuss, College Network VERY Restricted at International Chat: Software related forum; I've got a bit of a problem. I'm sure many of you have heard of this type of issue before. Moved into the dorms, now, many of the things I used the internet for before, are now restricted. For instance, online gaming. Before, would get 1000s of servers

College Network VERY Restricted

I've got a bit of a problem. I'm sure many of you have heard of this type of issue before.

Moved into the dorms, now, many of the things I used the internet for before, are now restricted. For instance, online gaming. Before, would get 1000s of servers while playing Call of Duty 2 online. Now, i get roughly 6 servers, and they've got well over 100 pings. Also, torrents are serverly limited. DL rates never over 3. Im fairly certain this is caused by port restictions the university have set. I know they put them there for a reason, but i think its BS that i cant even play a game online that i paid for.

Thus brings me here. Does anyone know a way to get around this? I tried changing COD2's netsocket port to 80 which worked last week, but i came back today and it no longer works.

Well I was thinking this too, but I don't know anything about them, and researching on the net has done little to help me. Tried supposed programs which would do it, put them in under Lan settings, nothing has worked thus far.

These restrictions are for legal protection of the institution and for system not to be overwhelmed by more users that system can handle. All you can do to have your own internet may be share the cost with another college mate.
