I've been a fan of ccleaner for quite some time now.

The analyze listing helps you see if you picked up any bad guys in your travels.
Customizable too, so you can trash files in almost any of your progs with a one-button touch.
It's a "must have" in my vocabulary...

After my initial negative encounters with Crap Cleaner, the closest I come this application nowadays is the neverending stream of computers that come across my bench that this application has destroyed.

Nothing is as safe as manual maintenance.

Operator error? I've never had any problem with it. Plus keeps you happy in business

CCleaner IS a manual maintenance tool. Don't blame the tool for the people who don't know how to use it.

yes i agree with OP as i to have been using this little tool for sometime now as it's nice to run about 1 time per day or so.

I understand you are speaking from your point of view, and I respect that.

However, there is nothing that CCleaner does that I can't and don't do myself, except produce non functioning applications after use.

Funny how I can manually clean my Registry without issues, yet if I allow CCleaner to engage in any Registry cleaning (even after reviewing every single recommended change), I will later discover applications that cease to function, although no Registry entries for those applications were listed or allowed in the CCleaner list.

Maybe CCleaner has gotten better, I have not used this application recently as my previous uses always resulted is the re-installation of some application.

Although the name has been changed from Crap Cleaner to CCleaner I still get many PCs on my workbench with failures after using CCleaner.

There simply are no safe applications that can be used reliably for Registry cleaning. The other cleaning provide by CCleaner may be fine, but I have no use for them as I manually clean my system every few days.

I have yet to find a dependable Registry cleaner (and I have used them all over the years), and always advise my clients against the use of such applications.

Again, you're blaming the tool for incompetent users. But FWIW, I've always used the registry cleaning and never had a single issue from it. But even if one never uses the registry cleaning, it's still a robust tool for disc cleanup and program management.

I agree CDan, this program is free, if anyone that does not know what they are doing uses this tool, as with any other tool, it is their fault for not doing their homework. Sorry the idea of blaming a newbies mistake on the tool is foolish.
