Best ID3 Tag editor

Hello guys,

I have read about quite a few tag-editors, but i would surely like to hear your opinion on which one is the best. I can't make up my mind...

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

I used Tag&Rename too, but I discovered a nicer tool, that is dedicated to tag editing. It makes it all automatically and it also delivers cover pictures and lyrics for the songs. So at the moment this is my personal choice. It's called Tagrunner

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

I have seen Zortam and it didn't catch my attention

As for Tag&Rename it seems so very complicated and I am not such an advanced user in computers

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

Just test it for a couple of days and you will love it, I tell you
This tool is not just a tag editor.. It also delivers the cover pictures and the lyrics for the song, and it makes it for more files at once, not one-by-one editing.

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

I just tested Tagrunner and I am very pleased with it. It seems that at the moment is the most efficient tool for tag editing. Thanks for the tip Leeman.
Any other suggestions for tag editors ?

P.S. That lyrics feature is really nice

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

I'm using tag & rename and I'm quite happy with it.
Just be careful not to use the wrong function (i.e. rename files when you really wanted to edit the tags) and mess everything up.

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

Hehe, of course it can bring lyrics
Besides tag information, it also delivers lyrics and cover pictures for the song. And it does all these operations at once, for all the files.

I must say that this Tagrunner is indeed very nice, and the fact it brings lyrics. I'll just say goodbye to my Zortam. Thanks Leeman

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

I downloaded Tagrunner and it does indeed find covers and lyrics - but if you don't already have the tags it can't seem to find the lyrics. That's ok- all my files have tags. But I use OrangeCD for my database and OrangeCD doesn't seem to see the lyrics inside the tags. Does it in fact put the lyrics in the tags?

I need a tag editor that edits all the fileds - especially Category where I want to put a sub-genre. Anyone know one that does this? It has to get files recursively. Tagrunner doesn't seem to have a large number of fields it will edit.

Re: Best ID3 Tag editor

It depends on the version of id3 you are using. For the "id3v2" the tags can be written back to the mp3 directly.
If the mp3 uses "id3v1", the lyrics cannot be written back, because this
version doesn't support the lyrics.

Furthermore, in order to write the lyrics in the tag, the option "Write
lyrics additionally as extra .txt file" must be deselected.

Hope this helps a little
