| is backweb still set to run on startup? edit - duh, it must be. lemme find how to change that stuff real quick...... ok, i cant remember where to actually remove the thing from your startup folder at, but you can fix the message in the meantime by going to run and typing msconfig. the last tab should be startup, and it lists everything that happens as windows starts. just find backweb, and disable it. that should work?

| Thanks for the info Ckin2001 but it's not listed under startup. I assume that it's part of another program but i have no idea what program uses it. Ivanhoe.... Quote:

| I think it appeared after installation of my Digital camera software that was provided by kodak. My initial problem is not with deleting it,as i've already removed it from my registry...i just want to know why after deletion message 'invalid backweb application id 7288971 ' still displays at startup of windows. Ivanhoe.... Quote:

| deleting the program is != to removing it from registry.......try re-installing your software, seeing if the message goes away, and then we'll try and go from there? its a lot easier to see what the program is trying to do when its actually allowed to do it. i googled your error, and found this : Invalid Backweb application..... _ This is an auto-update facility used by various parties - including Compaq, HP, McAfee at one time, and I am sure many others. _ The home web site is http://www.backweb.com/. _ It often does not appear in add/remove programmes, and may only be uninstallable by re-running setup for the programme that installed it. more support for the re-install method ![]()
