auto-play feature for DVD

A Corporate Video was made with menus, showing how the company recycles waste product. There is one menu which is 42Mb 1:02 minutes, the main movie is 666Mb 12:18 minutes, and there are 4 tiles that are extra’s, from 1:08 to 2:08 minutes long.
Now here’s the problem, even though many people have computers with a DVD-ROM/Burner, they don’t necessarily know how to use it . So what happens is that the video is returned claiming that it does not work. Now I know how auto-play works in XP, and even how Windows Media Player works. Unfortunately, these noobs don’t and can’t for their life figure how to open a movie (.vob) using their computer (I’m sure some don’t even have a DVD-ROM/Burner installed ).
The video works fine on a stand alone player, but these are few and far between in a office setting. What I’m wondering if there is some way that a ‘auto-play’ feature could be installed on the DVD disc, so that it would look for Windows Media Player, and then run the movie?
Not only are we losing customers, but we are looking like a 3rd rate company. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: auto-play feature for DVD

if your menuis an exceutable file you can make your own auto run command and include it on the disk.

[autorun]
open=xxxxxxxx.exe
icon=xxxxxxxx.exe

Just save the file as AUTORUN.INF and place it in the root directory of the CD.

Re: auto-play feature for DVD

iss, thanks for your quick reply. I have the DVD save on my hard drive as a file. There are only three kinds of files of various sizes, they are .ifo, .bup, and .vobfile. The frist is the VIDEO_TS file, which I understand is the lead in.
I’ve never done this before, so I’m unsure how to install a [autorun] open=xxxxxxxx.exe
icon=xxxxxxxx.exe into this files.
Could I copy the autorun from say my Windows disc, and place this is the folder, and if so, would I then find something in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player to also add? Then copy it as an .iso file, and then burn onto a DVD, would this do the trick?
Please forgive me, I have no ideal what I doing, and I’ve been looking high and low on the internet with no luck.

Re: auto-play feature for DVD

Well, now I’m confused! After bringing my rig into play these DVD’s, I find that they can be read and played in my system (below specs), but when I place the DVD in my friends computer, which by the way I set up the same mine, these DVD can not be read by his Pioneer 109D. Now we have the same OS, we have the same Media Players (WMP. & WinDVD), there are no conflicts in Device Manager, same firmware in the 109D. Auto play is set to play the disc as a DVD Movie, using WMP.
You can not even open the disc in properties to see its size, Windows can not even acknowledge there is any media in the player, the media is Ridata. Now there were a few that my system would not read, but after a few tries, it would read.

What gives? Can anyone help.

Would be happy to use taiyo yuden, however, not one computer store here in Toronto seems to have real taiyo yuden; I have yet to explore the on-line dealers. As far a verbatim goes, the master copy was done on verbatim and it gives the same problem.
In fact, I brought my rig into work and after spending the afternoon messing with different disc I’ve decided to start a new thread.

G'day iss
I'm sorry to intrude in the thread, but Ihave a question if you dont mind. Would this auto run command work to make a software instaler, ej. if I put Spybot or ms antispy in a CD and put the file on the kisk. Would it self atart installation?
Thank you for any reply.
