what is an IMG file for?

Hello,

Let me start by asking this: why would I want to burn an IMG file into a CD?
I already got the file in my hard drive and I'm not really into making back up CDs of ANY sort ( I got me several external drives for that )
What I NEED, is to put that .img file (and the 3 other files that came with it) to good use, ie: a usable application that I can run on my computer. How do I do this?

p.s. the guy that sent me the application said:

Those 4 files are all part of the CloneCD image. Download and install CloneCD from my site

...then use that program to burn the image to a blank disc.

...but I don't see how that is gonna get the application working.

img file is an image or perfect copy of an disc....u can use this to burn the img files to a disc

if u just wanna run the img files then d'load and install daemon tools ....mount the img file and it will run like a cd in a cdrom....no need to waste a cd..
