What can a Plex 16/10/40 backup and not backup?

I have a 1 year old Plexwriter 16/10/40. I'm just wondering, with regards to those new copy-protection schemes out there, which ones can my 16x Plexy backup and which ones can't it?

I recall before that the only protection that Plexy can't backup were SD2 discs (that was a year ago; and of course there were some other copy protections that are really not possible to be copied).

So, now a year later, I just started to read about copy protections again and notice there's this "Securom *new*" and SD2 v2.40 and a new SD2 2.51+.

Just wondering, assuming I use CCD4 and enable AWS, will my old Plexy be able to make 1:1 copies of SD2 (up to v2.40)? and make "near-perfect" 1:1 copies of SD2 2.51+?

Haven't bought new games lately though so I don't have any (new) copy-protected CDs to backup yet... but I just want to find out...

The Plextor 16X can normally not do SafeDisc 2. SafeDisc 2 was supported with the PX-W2410A drive (and the ones after that). These drives were 'defeated' with SafeDisc v2.51.021 as many, many writers were (even the Philips ones). Fortunately the Plextor drives work very well with CloneCD's AWS function and I have been able to copy SafeDisc 2.51 (GTA3, Serious Sam 2) with the following drives:

-PX-320A
-PX-W4012A
-PX-W4012TU

And the PX-W2410A should also work well (most people report a working back-up with AWS). The 16X should also work well with AWS but unfortunately you drive cannot read the Data SubChannels so you can't use is as a reader for SecuRom and SecuRom new. This drive can write the Subs just fine though so burning it is no problem. So no concrete answers but I hope you can use the info. Also use our search for the Plex 16X if you need more info.

I'm a bit confused with your statement above. You mention that "your drive cannot read the Data SubChannels so you can't use it as a reader for SecuRom or SecuRom new." But I think the PX-W1610A CAN and DOES read Data SubChannels (the info from CloneCD is probably incorrect, because I was able to do a working backup of my Diablo 2 (v1.03 CD, which uses SecuRom new according to other posts here) using my PX-W1610A as both reader and writer. (I narrated it here too:

Although what about the "newer new SecuROM" in the sticky thread above -- do you think the PX-W1610A would be able to copy it or not; assuming CloneCD is able to defeat it with the other CDRW drives with 2 sheep.
