| Is It Possible ? hello all, I have read numerous threads about Settings - Hardware - and utilities that fix SD2 protection for writing without AWS, but none of them really answer the question that is burning in the back of my mind. WHAT WRITER IS THE BEST ? (That's Obtainable in the UK) that can write Safedisk V2.5+, and make working copies that work in all CD readers. ( Like my (DEAD) Plex 820 SCSI used to ) R.I.P.Does one exsist, or are we all only able to play our backups via some util/Emulation/hack program that fixes weak sectors. |

| All Lite-On's from LTR-16102B and up will cut SD2 2.51.021 easily. Although they may have problems with protected audio discs. The only limitation is that you need to enable "hide CD-R media" if you want to play the backup in a CD-Writer. But this is not the writers fault, and there is no way around it with any writers. So if protected games is your main point, then go for Lite-On. If protected audio is important, then maybe the new Lite-On 40X will do it(not 100% verified yet) or you may buy a plextor(or other drive that supports reading protected audio) to read the protected audio discs and then write with the Lite-On.

| Cheers for the info, Protected Audio? by these you mean SD2 titles that also have audio track? eg Holligans - storm over Europe (1 data track & 10 Audio Tracks) this may not be possible to duplicate exactly, or are you on about a new audio protection in general? BTW i use plex 40's for reading anyway, can the lite-on write protected audio? |

Your Plex40sp is great for reading protected audio cd's! Every writer can burn the ripped tracks or image! ![]() | |
