My Lite on did it !!!

Hello, just wanted to post my successful settings
1st thing it is securom *new* all you have to do is download the presettings on this forum giving to uu by the moderators. 2nd you will need to unzip the files and extract them to you elaborate bytes folder.( you will have to search this site to get the pre settings.
ok, once you have the profile of the protection Securom *new* there is lots to choose from, this was the only 1 i extracted in my folder.
now just set the default setting with clony for securom *new* also make sure you have newest cloneCd 4019 , next click clone cd now just
go through the procedures as you prepare to write you will notice to left of the screen a little disc icon titled Securom*New* double click it. and there you have it also MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HIDE CR MEDIA checked. now wait until its time to write double click the icon of Securom *new* and it will then write automatically... i have WARCRAFT III and it works great made 3 copies so far... GOOD LUCK REMEMBER the key is to find the presetting given by the maoderators on this site and download them to you cloneCD profiles folder GOODLUCK

Elerana: I'm just curious, do you have the US version of WC3? You said that you had successfully copied WC3 with LiteOn 3210s, do you have to checked the Hide CDR Media option to play the backup?

Clonecd 4.0.1.9 did it just fine on my SCSI Plextor 12/10/32S when choosing "game cd" icon. I have burned two sucessful times (in two attempts), and have tested each copy to make sure that it not only runs the game, but is capable of installing as well. I feel pretty fortunate after reading all of the difficulties that some have had.

My system is as follows:

Soyo Dragon Plus Motherboard
AMD 1800+ cpu
512 Corsair 266 mhz cas 2 ram
100 gig western digital with 8 meg cache
Pioneer dvd
Plextor SCSI 12/10/32S CDRW
Asus v8460 Geforce 4 128 meg DDR w/ TV in & out
Windows 98 Second edition

If you are referring to me flaming you can you please point out where? I was just trying to find out why your settings worked for you while the normal Securom settings didn't. As you can see a comparison of the 2 profiles shows that they seem the same.

However, only one seems to work. Is this not confusing? I'm trying to work it out, just as many people are. I'm not flaming you at all.

I completely agree, as long as someone is actually flaming you and not simply questioning to try and solve the problem.

It seems so far that Fantom CD has yielded the most reliable results when it comes to creating successful copies of Warcraft 3 and NWN. The different ways in which some Clone CD settings work from version to version seem to be confusing many people. This may be 1 reason for people finding it difficult to burn Warcraft 3.

It also seems that the US versions of Warcraft 3 are using a different protection to the rest of the World. Many people outside of the US seem to have been able to create backups. This isn't the case in the US.

For people outside the U.S, Elerana's profile and the securom profile seem to be giving the best results.

So if you haven't had success using the Securom profile from this website, chances are that the one Elerana has given won't work either.

Well I might be a little rusty when it comes to flaming.... but when I see a post like this.... after I see 2 or 3 posts thanking me that my settings worked (and I am gonna take a wild guess that they tried the securerom profile that you can get in the zip you mentioned and it did not work like it did not work for me) and then I see the comment that chances are my settings will not work either.... well MIGHT have taken that the wrong way.... but I don't think so... just say if it did... or did not work... that is all I ever did (And also I kept stating what burner and firmware I had as well) anyone knows that all settings will not work on every burner.... so if I mistook the above post as a flame towards me I will apologize...

Also so you know I live IN the USA.... and ALSO the copy I have is from IN the USA...... and furthermore I have access to 6 different copies of Warcraft 3 bought from 3 different locations and ALL of them are Securerom new... so unless Blizzard is just really trying to screw with the community (of which would be to costly if you ask me) then most people are not recognizing the copy protection (perhaps because of incompatible hardware on the reader) but I can't be for certain

Most people use clony which isn't all that reliable so far as securerom new is concerned.

hello everyone, some of you may have seen me before I am actually R4lN I lost my password and waiting to get it back. I changed cable companies soo they would send my password to the wrong address. I made a new Login JUST soo i could reply to this post. I have a plexwriter 40/12/40A and I have a liteon 40x12x48x Im also running windows XP professional. I first tried burning this game with both of my burners using clonecd4. I made 4 coasters but I was using my re writeable soo I didnt make any lol. Anyway, couldnt burn it. I decided to go get the new firmware for both of my writers. First test was with my liteon, read and write...... no burn I then slowed the read and write speed down still no burn . Then I went to my plexwriter and I burned it. Yes a successful copy of warcraft3 US copy. I then turned around and took my plexwriter read and wrote it with my liteon as well. and that disk worked too. SOOO, I dont know bros the new firmware made my plexwriter a better reader. Yes this is one tough game to burn but it CAN be done......... and I burned this game at max speed as well as read it at max speed.... I hope I helped someone out there some how..... have a nice day

ManofSyn, definitely good news. I'll try it with my plexwriter. So far, success with my lite-on was thru fantomcd.

Reader: Toshiba SD-M1612 Firmware 1004

4. Read subchannel data from audio tracks – should be checked
5. Change read speed to max.
6. Start Clone CD from within Clony XXL
7. Make sure “hide CDR” media is unchecked.
8. Read to image file. (max speed)
9. Use good media (Princo 2 – 48x would not do it) Acer 24x Gold & HP 24x (TY) worked

What I've learned

ok IM in USA....and here's what I know....WarCraft 3 uses SecureROM new made by Sony...what SecureROM does is has a digital fingerprint held on the subchannel data. WIthout this digital finger print exactly copied the CD will not decrypt, cause all the CD's contents hold encryption....so the digital fingerprint must be exactly copied with subchannel data being copied 100%. I've burn't coasters of this game cause of subchannel data not copied correctly and the CD won't decrypt it will just keep on trying to be read by the CD-RW....Im using a Lite-on 24x....also I read it with a Tobshia 8x DVD-ROM still no luck...I even burn't at 1x and read at 1x...IM using Clone CD newest version....tell me how you guys did it?

Update to previous post...

Just dropped into say that I've finally gotten a copy of NWN and also managed to successfully burn a backup, using the same drive (Sony CRX140E-FW:1.0s)and CloneCD (4.0.1.9) settings; as mentioned further up this thread (2nd page). Hope this helps anyone having problems with burning these two titles.

Again thanks to G@M3FR3@K & FutureProof for providing thier standardised settings. With some knowledge of your drive and a little manipulation of these settings (if needed); they will help you, I suspect, in a majority of backup cases.

Regards,

PALADIN the Wanderer of the Everywhere...

For those of you who made successful copies of WC3, could you please tell me if you can play the copy on CDRW/CDR drive without having the 'Hide CDR Media' checked?

Thanks

No. You need to have hide cd media enabled to play from a writer. However, there is no need for hide cd media if you play from an ordinary cd/dvd rom.

Aaaargh! This is getting ridiculous. Has anybody used a Philips 4802/31 to backup the game up?

I have two older drives here: the Philips 4801/32 and the TEAC W58E. Which one would it be better to keep (my experience has been that the Philips is a way better drive for backing up protected stuff than the TEAC.

I don't hear too many plex drives making a decent copy. Has anyone done a decent copy with a plex? I have the latest firmware for my 121032a (1.10) and i tried burning it using the game profile given by clonecd and burned it at speeds as low as 2x. Still no working copy

Have you tried FutureProof's custom profile? (Read: data subs only, everything else off; write: all off). You might have better luck.

My facts

Ok guys I wonder all how you do it on old burners.....how can you copy Subchannel data so easily. Sasha you don't need AWS on with WarCraft III cause it has no bad sectors to begin with....what you need to do is make sure Subchannel data is copied right in order for the encryption to decrypt before the installation.....Im not trying to be bossy but just trying to help and tell you what I know...I always burn on a Memorex CD-R im gonna try a new media to see what happens....I can install WarCraft III easily but can't get past when you double click the EXE for the CD check to get past that.....G@MEFreak & FutureProof I just wanna say I respect you guys. You guys know your stuff and do a good job =)
