Yes, the patch appears to be perfectly safe. If you have System Restore or regularly back up your hard drive, then you can always reverse any damage. The patch works great. Thanks G@M3FR3@K!
No need for system restore. The patch has an uninstall option as well. Just start it again, if it is already installed.

Yes but that wrecks the way the date looks on the taskbar.
It also messes up the spellcheck in some programs.

Sure. But this isn't so easy if you happen to live in Japan.

Why don't you use the tool as gamefreak has suggested?

It appears that CloneCD 4.0.1.6 eliminates what the patch did. Is anyone else seeing this?

I just checked and the patch is still working for me. I just burned a MOHAA disk and although I did not need the options they were available as is the "Hide CDR" option.

Did you try to reapply CCD4RegKill.exe?

I wonder why they don't just make a checkbox for the AWS feature?

That way, for people living in the USA and Japan, it gets checked automatically when installed, and for everyone else, unchecked! That way we don't have to go through this bs to take care of this "feature"

/stops dreaming

AWS is clonecd 3

Using clonecd 3 I always opened a cd-writing profile in wordpad and changed the value of Amplify Weak Sectors from 0 or 1 to 3. Then the box for AWS is still grayed out but it has the check box checked. I never knew if it worked or not, but it made me feel better.

I think it does not work. You know you can move or upgrade to ver 4 and apply the patch. That way you can actually try AWS. Actually maybe now that they are in Switzland they can do away with the Japan/USA BS. But then again uncle sam has a long reach.
