Suncomm/ MediaMax 5 - David Gray Hello, I am trying to make an unencrypted back-up of my wife's David Gray-Life in Slow Motion CD. I am using the following: Plextor Premium (1.07) Clone CD (5.2.9.1) P4 2.6 GB 1.5 GB Mem The weird thing is that I have two discs that supposedly have the same protection (MediaMax Version 5). David Gray and My Morning Jacket-Z. I was able to properly burn the My Morning Jacket CD. However, I am having fits with the David Gray one. It starts off fine, but it gets slowly worse after about song 7 (of 10). Can anyone provide any help? I thought about buying the new Samsung DVD/CD burner. Would that help? What about AnyDVD? Thanks

Re: Suncomm/ MediaMax 5 - David Gray Here a question what are you burning Audio CD or DVD? AnyDVD will help to dcrypt audio cd so you can burn them, but I have experience that sometimes it would help burn the audio CD. So I turned to Media player to burn my Audio CD why cause sometimes those CD include extra media that when Anydvd removes those causing your burner not to be able to properly burn that is how I dealt with those problems. But if you plan to backup DVD read the next paragraph. Well you can go to slysoft site download a trial products...ie....AnyDVD, CloneCD, CloneDVD2. Give the trail program a try and see if that dont help resolve your problem backing the media. Also make sure your plextor has latest firmware, and stay away from samsung but you can purchase what you can afford or what you like from recommendations. But for me I have a Lite-on 832S and though its no longer made it still performs well for my need and backup. Go with a better DVD Burner if you want to use it for backup and longivity-they are cheaper nowdays and worth the money. Also makes sure your slysoft programs are the latest versions.

Re: Suncomm/ MediaMax 5 - David Gray Thanks coolcolors, I thought you had it. 1) I do have the latest firmware for Plextor and updated CloneCD. 2) I think you are correct, this is a multimedia cd, it has extras. The My Morning Jacket CD was just audio. That may explain why I could burn one and not the other. 3) I downloaded ANYDVD and tried that with CloneCD. Again, it was fine until the 10th track. From my understanding, its the reading that is causing the problem, correct? I had heard good things about Plextor on here, that's why I went with them. I'm surprised how many on here like Lite-On. Do you know anything about the following model?: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106015

Re: Suncomm/ MediaMax 5 - David Gray I do have and use both AnyDVD and CloneCD and also CloneDVD2 from slysoft. And they all work good CloneCD will make a 1:1 copy and CloneDVD2 will make a DVD+9(1:1) or DVD+5(compress) from the original depending on the options to choose in CloneDVD2. As for my Liteon DVD its a older discontinued model 832S but with VSOM firmmware the latest they have for this drive. I hadn't had much problem reading or burning just that you do have to open the case up and clean the laser with a glass cleaning cloth for your glasses that ou wear and that for me help the laser read alot better. I only advise you do this if your comfortable in doing it but if it's under warranty don't after the warranty runs out then you can open clean it. Sounds extreme but this will sometimes help read/write better. Ok, but make sure you also check for the CD media for defeats and scratchs. Also if you having problem slow down the reader speed and burn speed as well sometimes the speed causes problem on read and write. Make sure if you plan to burn to media its a good media or one that you had success in burning to. Yes, Plextor is a good brand as well-but for what my needs are the liteon has servered me well burning and reading. The latest model of liteon with lightscribe seem to be a good value but as I dont have need for lightscribe right now I would buy that model but since they dont have lightscribed DVD only for CD media I wait til they have that option then I consider purchasing that drive. But like always go with a unit or brand that your familiar with and had good results with. I had problems with some of my CD that had extra media files caused winamp to not rip them but with media player was able to. Beyond that a good clonecd or clonedvd2 with anydvd should be able to handle most copies of your cd or dvd-unless it comes with the latest protection. Maybe I am just saying to much but hope this doesn't confuse you more if it does tell me.
