Splinter Cell Security

I pre-ordered Splinter Cell for PC and picked it up today in the USA. Todays Splinter Cell for PC first day at store shelves. The Game is Three Disks. I read the third disc with CLONE CD viewed the log found ton of bad sectors. The Security is Safe Disk 2 (For USA version) whether or not its 2.90 is still a question. Redstorm put Safe Disk 2 on Ghost Recon for PC and since Ubi and Redstorm merged I figure its Safe Disk 2 all the way on there games. Well this concludes the brief security round up. Big shout out to G@meFreak & Future Proof

It would be interesting if someone could install the game and use SafeDisc Analyser to reveal the exact version that was used.. That would confirm or deny any rumours on this game using a newer SD version (2.90).

Here's the scoop

Ok just did Safe Disk Analyser newest version here's what it said

v2.80.011

there ya go

turns out its just a rumor. I wonder if Macrovision is working on there precious 2.90 or there waiting for a big game like DOOM III to come out to hit us hard. I am eager to see DOOM III security. USA Game Developers need TAGES if they wanna make it hella harder. Yeah Yeah I've read the theories on TAGES. OH and by the way tonight the first Splinter Cell patch came out so I installed that and it said "v2.80.011" so this Safe Disk version is with the first patch.

Thanks for the SD version...latest one I've heard of.

id software don't add copy protection to their game discs.

DOOM III will probably not even use a protection. The ID developers are smart enough to know that Macrovision et al. are a waste of money and have not used any copy protection on they products at all before.

The only protection likely to be used is ID's CD-KEY / Online play lock - which tries to prevent more than one person using the same CD-KEY playing online at once. This was used in Quake 3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

I suppose so

Yeah I could believe that. Its just a big name game I thought it would have protection. But more like a Game Publisher/Developer thing. Every EA Game I've come across published or Developed is Safe Disk. Diablo II and up for Blizzard Games use SecureROM. RedStorm and Ubisoft now use Safe Disk 2. Microsoft uses Safe Disk 1 Lite. So I would believe you guys are right thanks =)
