Clone CD Discuss, The Sims & Expansions at Burning Software forum; sorries if i lied, i've heard of this problem before, and had seen that quoted as the solution. i had been told that it asks for a disc, as in the sims disk, and then the expansion. it sounded feasible, i mean, im pretty sure i had to do

'insert original disc' thing, is a failure of the backup expansion disc
endquoute

i had actually read that it said 'insert disc' and not insert original disc. i guess i need to buy/steal livin large and see what it actually says

HELP!!

My girlfriend has been playing a copy of the sims expansion set for quite some time(house party & livin in large). When I installed them I had demon tools enabled and everything worked fine.

Yesterday I formatted my HD & now I have problems.

When I installed I did not have demon tools enabled & it came up saying "Please change your settings in the control pannel" when I try to install Livin in large. Not sure what settings they are refeing to as the sims works fine just not the expansions.

So I uninstalled & reinstalled with demon tools on. Same error. I have tried heaps of stuff like CCD hide media. Norton to hopefully remove any left over registry entries once uninstalled. I have XP Pro.

FutureProof what error message do you get??

Any suggestions.

Cheers

A Windows error message, asking me if I'd like to email Microsoft (replacement for the BSOD, I believe).

Insert original cd?

I had the same problem. I thought i burnt coasters when it said please insert original cd but then i downloaded clonecd 4 beta and used hide cd-r media. If it still says it, try reading and burning at a lower speed and make sure amplify weak sectors is on, also try using it in a non-burner drive if you have one

The Sims family of discs have the installation drive letter 'hard-wired' into the registry. One of CD-ROMs had gone from r: to j: and that's why it wanted the "original" disc. Changed it all back and whalla!
