Did a backup of cd 1 using the protected game icon - using the new clonecd verion 5. Installed game using that copy and the 2-4 cd originals that i have. Tried to play game with back up cd after "successful install". Message asking for correct cd. Today - on reading around, I clicked on "hidecdr media" in the quicklaunch tray (an option for clone cd). I then exited clone cd from the quicklaunch tray and tried the cd again. Works no problem at all.

Alcohol copied it fine, works on pcs without burners or any emulation software.

If, like both you and me, your writers/readers can produce a copy (with alcohol, blindwrite or discjuggler) that works without emulation that's all well and good and I wouldn't use ccd as it relies on emulation to work.

On the other hand, if your hardware isn't up to the task of producing a working emulation free copy of sd 3.2 protected cds, and most hardware can't do it, then ccd's emulation method is a reasonable solution since the program doesn't need to be registered for hide cdr media to be active.

Really, it doesnt have to be registered to use the tray icon? Even if the trial runs out?

True, but I find it hard to accept that CloneCD truely "supports Safedisk v3.2" (which they say) if its only by emulation. I applaud Slysoft's efforts, but CloneCD has much furthur to go.

Well when i try to copy sims2 with clonecd, I get the emulation detected error and the game uninstalls itself, am i the only one with this issue?

Disable "hide cdr media" and close the ccd tray. Then open the ccd tray again and re-enable emulation. Retry playing the game

If this doesn't work, disable again and restart pc before re-enabling emulation.

Thanks alot. The game runs fine now. I can now say that clonecd was able to copy(emulate) Sims2 with my plex premium.

If you have alitey 52x, which software is best for for backing up sd 3.2 w/o emulation?
bw doesn't work, couldn't get discjuggler to work..any ideas?

Discjuggler requires a very good reader, such as a picky toshiba DVD-Rom, so you may want to try making an image with a more precise reader if you have one.

Best software to use (without emulation) for sd 3.2 is definitely latest version of alcohol 120%. Obviously for those that can't make a backup without emulation, CloneCD 5 is the logical choice.

Yeah, sure. As long as you are willing to put up with constant blacklists. So far, we've been lucky that SD doesn't blacklist emulation and v-drives as agressively as securom does.

Hi there everyone!

OK....so ive made a backup of the sims 2 using the 5.0.2.2 version of clone cd. now i get the classic problem of "insert the correct CD-ROM" when i try to play the game

Now, i followed the many instructions i was given...
but i did encounter a few difficulties on the way
When i was "reading to image" ther were no bunch of profiles, there was only one profile, which was DVD.
Continuing on i could not set the read speed to 4X, there was nowhere for me to select it, it straight away went to burn...looked everywhere cant find this option.

When i went to burn the image, again there was only one profile "DVD" so i couldnt select the Protected Cd thing to do this :"emulating weak sectors"
This time i did have the option to select the speed, which i chose as 1x as recomended...

I then i made sure that i selected the "Hide CDR media"
After all of this i still had the same problemo after installing. The "insert correct CDROM" I even uninstalled clone so see what happened, still same result.

I attempted to use Alcohol, but it wouldnt create an image cause it couldnt read the Sims 2.dvd file.

I have a Lite-On DVD burner which i used to burn my cd, as well as attepmting to play the game(i only have one cd drive)

Ive used the virtual clone cd drive, but that didnt make any difference to what happened at all

It would be GREATLY aprectiated if someone was kind enough to give thier expert advice, but if u cant help that ok...i wont hate you

CloneCD cannot copy a safedisc 3 protected DVD.
Their claims it can are not realised in practice.
CloneCD now falls into the category of SCAM software.

i can say the sims 2 does work with ccd 5.0.2.2
writer: nec nd 1100a
reader: plextor px 116 a
operating system: Win XPsp 2 3,2 ghz, fx 5950 ultra , 1024 ram

Oh really! Without the need to use emulation? No! It will only work if you use CloneCD with emulation turned on.

It does work if you're persistant. For some reason, the CloneCd tray has to be disabled (right click > exit) and re-enabled to make it work.

Here's how I did it:

Make the backup using the default DVD profile. Close the CloneCd tray. Then reopen it ( I put a shortcut on my desktop to make it easier). Make sure "Hide CDR Media" is enabled, then play the game. You can also disable the CloneCd tray on start up, and enable it only when you need to use it.

I don't know why you have to do this, but it works.

I used a NEC 3500A for reading and writing.

Is Sims 2 on DVD only?

You can get it on DVD, but I've heard it's on Cd as well.

4 CD set, only the first one is copy-protected.

i downloaded sims2 alcohol clone clonegame, used alcohol 120% to burn it to 4 cds (but im not sure if i burned it on the safedisk mode , if that matters..) when i try to run the game from disk 1, the program exists itself even though the installation was successful. please help?
