SD2 Copied Easily

I have a PleXtor x12x10x32 SCSI and was given a game called Robot wars which has the SD2 protection. I used the new English ClonyXXL to detect the protection and set CloneCD up. One thing I noticed it never told me to change the settings for Fast Error Skip, normally Read Retries = 3 and Error Correction = none. I left it at the default of 0 and Software. The game works great in my UltraPleX40 and my Pioneer DVD A05, it Won't work in my Burner, but that don't bother me. The same goes for Medal of Honour on my M8t's IDE version of my PleXtor.

Hope this helps.

I am only posting what I have tried and tested.

Greetz from the Diplomat

Have just tried Op FP with my UltraPleX 40, but it won't read it with the same settings, I will make an image using my writer and see if it works, will let you know the results.

Ok some more good news the image of Op FP read with my PleX Writer (SD2) burnt ok, and works great Only Medal of Honour to try now.

Where did you get the prog hide CDR Media from? I usually just use my burner for the purpose it was intended for and thats writing

B.T.W I am not using Beta Blocker or any similar prg. Just plain old CloneCD about time Ollie released a new version, its been along time.

OK I have made a copy of MOH, CD2 contains the new SD2 protection. it installed ok, but it will only let me play the game if I insert CD2 into my UltraPleX 40 if I try the PleX writer or Pioneer DVD it doesn't work

There you have it, I have done all the testing needed, and have proved the Plex x12x10x32A/S can copy all the different versions of SD2. so far that is, until they release a newer version as and when I will test it

I should be a moderator for the work I undertake too help others who are stuck

I hope these positive results help others

I have just wrote MOH CD2 at x4 and it now works in my Pioneer CDrom as well

What version of SafeDisk 2 was on the original? Only SafeDisk 2.51.020 en higher (if I am correct) is a problem for Plextor writers...

...unless that Plex owner has BetaBlocker 1.1

(Worked for me: MOHAA, Serious Sam SE)

Hey Upp3rd0G, grtz. I am a little ATM. I read lots of statements like yours (no offence) but I don't read any actual reports about Plex & 2.51.020 (Tiger Woods Golf) failing - I assume they all work (eventually).

Problem is 2.51.021 from MOHAA onwards. Got a guy, in another forum, to uncheck everything on the planet (!) & just use FES on his Tiger Woods - bing! it worked.

I am sorry, I must be mistaken! I wasn't sure (like I said...) In fact I have never copied a protected data-cd...

I have noticed that not many posts refer to how does the new plextor model 40/12/40TA cope with the new safedisk protection. I have bought it a few days ago, and after using the new firmwire v1.01 released by Plextor Europe i tried to make 1:1 copies of MOHAA and Serious Sam 2nd Encounter. I managed to make copies that worked in both my drives (the 2nd being a Samsung DVD Rom) without using betabloquer, just the AWS function of clone cd. I also used a MP7125A-DP and a TDK Cyclone 24x to do the same job, but unfortunatly both failed. I dont know what it is that Lite Ons do different, but i cant imagine how they can beat my new 40x plexie... not to mention that my plexie will still be here working its butt off for quite a long time (something that not many other drives can do)

The latest AWS version can't help you with the weak sectors found on MOHAA... they are not supported by CloneCD, maybe in the next version? The latest version of BetaBlocker is able to patch the CloneCD image with the new weak sectors.

Well that might be true for the ricoh and tdk drives, but the 40x plextor drive did manage to make 1:1 copies without using betabloquer. I mentioned that these other drives couldn't do the job to point out the fact that this particular plextor model did

You mean that my 7083a can do a 1:1 copy of MOHAA by using the up-to-date betablocker and cloneCD?

There's absolutely no guarantee it'll work... You can at least try of course (on a CD-RW disc ) but the latest BB works best for Plextor writers. You can get both BB versions here.

You mean a P1210A with betablocker can do a perfect 1:1 copy of sd2.51?

Not quite, with a similar Plex my results are as follows:

1) CloneCD Only - Only works in burner

2) CloneCD & AWS - Works in burner and good CD readers (Plextors, LiteONs, Pioneer DVDs)

3) CloneCD & BB 1.1 - Works in burner and most medium quality CD readers (Maxtor DVD 32x, Creative 12x DVD) but failed on Asus 50x

Like AtomicX already said: the results may vary and can be different for each game. Absolutely no guarantee it'll work but like I said you can always try.
