Your read settings would appear ok for a Safedisc 2 protected game, although I usually use 3 retries and No Error Correction as FES settings (and Olli recommends 0 retries and hardware for FES)...both of these seems to work.

Your write settings also appear ok.

I have an Acer 1208A, which is based on the the Phillips drive and it can sometimes be picky with media and write speeds. Have you tried a different brand of media and slowing the write down?

I know its a pain, but writing at 4x with just about ANY media on the Acer always seems to work, whereas writing at 8 or 12x I sometimes get an error (usually No additional Sense Information).

Good luck.

What version of Clone are u using...i remember that one of the late 2.*.*.* versions gave me a heap of dramas (and coasters), but when i upgraded to 3.*.*.*, they ceased.

Other than that, i can only suggest change brands of media and slow down write speed and possibly read speed.

HamsterMan...the Acer 1208 is dogged by a poor Media Catalogue on the chipset - that's one reason why we get offerred FW upgrades!

CCD does not care about the media whether it's 1x or 24x; a device, on the other hand, does require media that it can work with. To this end I can only suggest that you check the acer.com.tw site for recommended media - Acer branded stuff, Imation & Best Buy is all I feed my Acer; Verbatim, Kodak Ultima and some other black brands failed too often.

I would not recommend media slower than 12x (I don't use anything slower than 16x in my 1610A) because it's unlikely to be properly compatible with the chipset algorithm & the optical power calibration is likely to come undone at this early stage.

I also recall that your particular error message is Philips erroneous way of saying "buffer under-run, but don't blame us". The 1208A comes with a 2 MB or 4 MB buffer; I note that you had buffer under-run technology set to "no" - was this deliberate?

btw, the NEC read was not that bad! And like roadworker said, check the certified speed of your media...

still, i don't understand what i should do.

BTW, the CD-R speed i am using, is 24, which is more than enough.

Do i have to update anything. I am using the newest clone CD version.

I'm puzzeled.

NOTE: I'm using Memorex CD's. I was using Imation CD's for the previous SD2 backups.

SD2 burning

Use different CD-R media. I got more coasters with Memorex CD-r's than anything and it's not good for creating music cd's for car stereo's coz it does not read in the cd player.

i used a 10-pack verbatim and it worked well for me i think. Although lots of the copies i made didn't work (SD2 copying i think).

Imation CD's are the best for me .

Better go to the store and get some though.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'll tell you when i get it to work

The main problem is: "ILLEGAL REQUEST: INCOMPATIBLE MEDIUM INSTALLED (5:0x30:0x00)". It copies for 5% and then it stops.

Does anyone know what that means?

Is my CD Writer broken? <--- LOL @ newbie question.

i just copied a couple of file on to a CD using Adaptec CD Creator and it worked fine, even with memorex CD's. What could the reason for this fault with Clone CD be?

Maybe it is something to do with the way your hardware is setup.

I am in need of information on compatable CD media for the pcrw804K17

Any high quality brand such as TDK, Maxell, Sony, etc. should provide excellent
results.

this is from tech at phillips for media, also I would make sure DMA is checked in properties .defrag computer, shut all other programs down

If my hardware isn't set up correctly, how come adaptec cd creator worked fine when transferring data to disk?

Very weird but I see you're also using Easy Coaster Creator. This might be the problem but I can't be sure. Coaster Creator is the worst burn application I have ever seen and it's simply crap. It's often the source of problems but the bad thing is it can't be properly uninstalled. Maybe FutureProof can shed some light on this?

Have you updated your firmware recently, because I read that it worked before, maybe you should try downgrading the firmware.
