Question about lost data

I am a newbie and this is my first post. Don't know if I'm in the right forum for this question, but I'll give it a shot. I got a disc from a friend with pictures of our last vacation. she left the session open and now I can't access the pictures. She lives far away so I have to either send her back the CD so she can close it or try and find a way to access the pictures myself. I tried using Isobuster but come up with file in a .TAO format. Is there any way to access files on a CD if the session isn't closed. I can't access it on my home computer or my work computers. Every time I put the CD in and try and access the drive it gives me the "not responding" message then craps out the computer. Anyway, I was planning on sending the disk back so she could close out the session, but I thought there is a faster way I can do myself. Any help is appreciated. Sorry, if this is the wrong topic for this thread. Thanks in advance!
