Re: PS2 game copy problem with CloneCD

Hi and welcome here at CDF,

we need a bit more information to help.

which burner/firmware?
which media (+R/-R; MID)?
which PS2 version? (SCPH .......)

Anyway, I would suggest you to try DVD Decrypter in ISO-Read and ISO-Write mode and use quality media like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Burning speed is usually not the problem, you can even burn the discs at 16x (when 16x rated of course) without any problem.

Also, take note - DVDD will backup ps2 DVD games; it will not backup ps2 CD games. I have successfully used clone cd in the past for the ps2 CD games.

That is probably the most important thing; My game backups play fine with both of those/ DVD+R & DVD-R either type of disc.

Re: PS2 game copy problem with CloneCD

thanks guys for your reply - i can't tell you the firmware of the burner and ps version (it's the one with the big body, not slimline!)now - i'm in the office... but copies made by someone else are running pefectly (i don't know the specification of their equipment or other details) - i also use verbatim sometimes but now i want to try sony dvd's r+, maybe they run better as originals - i'm not a specialist as you see but try my best, that's why i want to ask you what you mean with "to try DVD Decrypter in ISO-Read and ISO-Write mode" - i would appreciate if you can explain what that means - however, i'll send you the particular specifications on monday! bye

Open DVDD; Click Mode/ISO Read. That is the setting for backing up ps2 game.

This link is helpful for game backups;

Re: PS2 game copy problem with CloneCD

well, I still believe that this is a media/burner problem. Your BTC/Emprex burner is not the newest and those BTC/Emprex drives are known for having problems with many media.

Your PS2 is V8,V9 or V10 (depends on the board), however, all should be able to work with both DVD+R and DVD-R

Can you please do the following:

Download DVD identifier from http://dvdidentifier.cdfreaks.com instert one media and check the media code of your media, save a screenshot and post it here, we then get any necessary information.

you can download DVD Decrypter from http://www.doom9.org/software.htm

Well, this is exactly what we need. The burner uses a quiet old firmware, the latest for this drive is 0060. But even when you upgrade to the latest you wont get good results for this media, it's not supported.

From this point there are only two possible ways to get better results.

1.) Buy some good 8x media (Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden) or
2.) invest 40 bucks and buy a up-to-date 16x drive (this is what I would do)

sorry that I couldn't help you more.
