Plextor 40X only writes at a max 24X - Club CDFreaks

hi

i have a plextor 40X CD-RW and clone cd v 4 on windows xp

when i copy any cd my plextor only writes at a max of 24X

everything is set to max, so it should write at 40X

any idea on why this is happening?

Make sure the media (CD-Rs) you're using supports writing at 40X speed. If you're writing a CD-RW, max speed should be around 12X.

The cd's I use are DataSafe 40X Silver Premium CDR's

there are rate up to 40X but the CD-RW writes at max 24X

Think the good answer is in the plextor forums on a sticky , but I think it will not burn 40x with raw dao, unless you have the USB2 version.

(dosnt mean much, time it gets to 40x the burn is done).

Will the plextor suppot the disks?(I dont know who makes them)

A known RAW-DAO issue for Plexies. You gotta live with it and praise the superb audio handling capabilities

What's the difference between raw-dao and raw-sao. Raw-sao isn't limted to 24x,
so I could use it, because I also have this plex. I don't copy protected cd's. Is raw-sao quality as good as raw-dao ?
