Clone CD Discuss, Plextor 12/10/32A and BetaBlocker at Burning Software forum; Hi guys. I heard many good things about BetaBlocker or some might know it as CDbeta, so I decided to try it out. As you can see I use Plextor 12/10/32A firmware 1.07 to burn the disk. I also use the famous CloneCD 3.0.5.1 +

Plextor 12/10/32A and BetaBlocker

Hi guys.
I heard many good things about BetaBlocker or some might know it as CDbeta, so I decided to try it out.
As you can see I use Plextor 12/10/32A firmware 1.07 to burn the disk. I also use the famous CloneCD 3.0.5.1 + ClonyXL (the latest english) and BetaBlocker translated to English.
I decided to burn The Settlers IV. My version is the UK one.So I ran ClonyXL and it identified the protection as a SafeDisk 2 plus Overburn (I checked the size of the disk and its right). The I ran CloneCD using FAST WRITES - ON, plus read speed to 10x. After that I run the BetaBlocker. I entered to scan 300000 tracks (just in case) and the program found few bad ones somewhere in the beginning, I patched them. Then I went to burn it. I didn't check anything except BURN-PROOF and end the disk. For the experiment I used an old Fujifilm CD-RW disk 74 min 4x. I burned the image asking the CloneCD to try and overburn. After that I tried the disk in the Plextor and it worked fine (installed + I was able to play with the latest patches installed). The I went on my other computer with Kenwood 52x. It read the disk and installed it. Installation took a long time but completed successfully. I then wanted to play. The only thing I got was : The program made some critical mistake in some ~......tmp file. I got the message like the dude with the Operation Flashpoint on the forum.
So what did I do wrong? Should I change the CD not Fujifilm, probably Kenwood don't like CD-RW?

Well simple, it didn't work! The Plextor drives can already read and play SafeDisc 2 back-ups without the need of BetaBlocker so that's why it worked. But if BetaBlocker was succesful you should also be able to play it in all CD-ROMs. The error you describe is common for a bad SafeDisc 2 back-up and has nothing to do with overburning or not.

Sorry
