It depends on the drive whether it will help or not.

I'm creating my own patcher, which (once I get the interleaving fixed) should solve it.

Why not create a Tages patcher, that's something that would be appreciated by everyone. AWS is already in CLoneCD so why do we need another one (if you got a Lite-On, you don't even need one!).

SDG: Since this is just on topic here:

The Mode2CDMaker source still doesn't give sense. 7D65-sectors are encoded only about 1/2 to regular patterns, the other half if not at all regular and messes up the DSV. Usually 3/4 should be regular...either there're still errors in that source (could you have a look at the delay line shifts?), or there's some crap in my DSV calcs.

I didn't get a DSV > 50 for these, while some other sectors gave 98...this can't be!

Spath said that SD2.51 can give a DSV > 1000, and betablocker doesn't patch something in the first 500 bytes, right? Then of course, if a writer burns crap before the patched region starts (which is of course possible especially for non-sheep-writers, then AWS won't help...

Namoh: A "Tagès patcher" is nonsense. A patcher is not enough. You must find all twin sectors before you can patch anything.

To be continued in Techical forum....

can sir david solve the mystery surrounding the inability of clone cd to successfully copy the new securom discs that are around in
plentiful within the last few months ie industry giant 2 / beachlife/
the thing/these are proving to be uncopyable at the moment ?
forget tages only one program has that protection ( motoracer 2)
whereas securom new or 3 or whatever it is ? is appearing on all sorts of new releases and as yet remains completely uncopyable
The intresting fact is that the copy appears to load fine game just hangs when trys to run ! put original disc into drive game runs ok?
suggest some how protection is detecting somehow the original disc ? needs some sort of blocking!!! like hide cdrw media etc?
out of my league its over to you sir david and oli???

A only have one idea, and this one seems to be unlikely.

I don't really think that messing with the DSV will be the most helpful thing, since in the copied weak sectors, it isn't possible to determine what the drive will pick for the merging bits.

Shouldn't the merging bits be the same in all drives (same sector entry point presumed)? It's clearly defined how they must be chosen...a drive choosing wrong merging bits should be considered defective...
My goal is still to calculate the DSV for each f3-frame (I'd be satisfied if I got one dsv, for one sector entry point...) to find out which subchannel bytes have to be patched.

Yes, it should. Check your PM's.
