So you saying the new Plex 24 IDE is no good, and that we should all sell our Plex's and buy the Liteon instead? All we need is a new safedisk unwrapper for this new SD2 protection.

Are you supposed to get bad sectors scans when you read the CD? Because I tried reading MOHAA and read every sector no problem... never got around to burning it though...

No I didn't say anything. I gave a link to new info regarding the Plextor writers. When reading with a Lite-On drive the Plex made a good copy. This could also help other writer which are having problems with the new SafeDisc 2 version. Maybe the Lite-Ons pick up something the Plexie's don't (well they must since they're about the only drives that can read the new SD at full speed without problems)...

Plex 24x and SD2.51

The 24x plex can make perfect backups of safedisk 2.51 , i have seen it wiv me own eyes , My friend has a 24x plex like mine however his is on the 1.0 firmware and mines on the 1.3 firmware
thus i try to backup SD2.51 and NO GO , he tries it on his and wham perfect copy every time ???? . So as far as i can see its the firmware 1.0 that u need , and that more recent firmwares have been FIXED by plex ..

And just to add injury to insult , the new plex's wont let u downgrade the firmware...... Plextor we luvvv u [wan*ers]

So unless plex get back on track and release a new firmware that fixis this prob , or sum 1 can suss how 2 downgrade the new plex's then heres to ermmmm Fishing Anyone

Plex 2410A + MOH-AA

OK, I've been following this thread for sometime so I bought MOH-AA on Friday just so I could test it! All the usual methods of copying on my Plex 2410A failed. I've now just written a copy to my Plextor CDRW disc at 10x with AWS option ticked (fed up losing discs now!) and the copy worked perfectly.

I used my Toshiba SD-M1502 to read the image at max speed. I tested the image worked fine using MDaemon tools 3.02 before burning. My Plex firmware is v1.03. I've also just read the image of the copied disc, compared the file with the original image and both files are identical!

I was led to believe that AWS modified the image in some way. Certainly when my friend has used it he found that the disc written with AWS selected appeared as Safedisc 1 instead of 2 afterwards, but it did work!!!

Hope this info is useful to someone. Maybe someone else with a similar setup can test this and confirm it.

BTW, anyone tried Black and White - Creature Isle yet? It seems to be SD2.51 too.

Plex 2410A + Safedisc 2.51

OK, well, I have the answer now! You *can* write the latest SD 2.51 on the plex 2410A, however, you can only do so on re-writable media! I can create perfect working backups every time this way but writing the same image, no matter what the speed, to a CDR results in extra bad sectors appearing. I thought it may have been the 80min media that I was using so I've just bought some Sony 74min CDRs - same result.

Hi,

If the 'only on cd/rw media' is true, and from the last couple of posts it seems to have merit, then that is bad - most cd/rw's don't hold data for too long, meaning 6-12 months tops.

Not much of a 'backup' then.
