IMHO,a lot of readers will be capable for Cactus Data Shield reading now with the function:Multimedia Audio CD.....
The reason:
My LiteOn LTD 163 with firmware GH5K was able to rip a C.D.S. cd!!!As we all know,LiteOn is a bad reader for audioprotections,so another victory for Olli!!
The copy worked in the same players as the original......

MY LTR 24/10/2B still can't.....maybe with the next firmware update

Well I guess I'll be out of luck regarding Cactus Data Shield Protections too then with my LiteOn LTR-12102B, but maybe my Toshiba SD-M1502 will do the Trick?

By reading this article you can read the main differences between CloneCD 3 and 4. I have beta tested this new version for a while and has some success with SD2.51. Unfortunately I do not have a CDS protected disc (yet) so I can't test that.

I dont like the new version.

- All the important settings are hidden somewhere
- Dumping an image with my Ultraplex 40 took 8 minutes, while CCD 3 took 3 minutes with the same settings!
- Dont like the new animations for reading, writing etc. , but i guess thats just personal taste.

I suggest you create your own profiles which mach your needs, or copy the existing profiles and edit them. Shouldn't be too hard!

I know Olli, before i dumped the image I already 'optimized' the profiles for my needings. But it still took so long to read.

And there is a problem with Plextor devices:
I have an UltraPlex40 and and Plexwriter 12/4/32, both SCSI with latest FW. When you leave the FES-setting to 'automatic' both drives stop and reduce reading speed for the first broken sector. When reading of that sector is done (and then when FES is activated) the drives do not spin up to full speed, they stay at that low speed and continue reading. The only solution is to set FES to 'on' in the profile. But this would render the auto-fes useless.

Sounds like there is still some room for improvement! I'll lookminto this issue.

I wanted to give a try to this new version, but before starting writing the image CloneCD told me that my writer ( Plex 8/4/32 firm:1.09) wasn't compatible. (can't write 96 bytes subchannel...). I had no problems with all previous versions, what happens ?

Olli What is going on with the New Auto FES in CCD 4.0 ?

There is a major difference in total burning time even on the fly when using the Automatic FES VS. the manual FES.

With Auto FES enabled reading SD2.51 with Toshiba SD-1402 and recording with Liteon LTR-40125S uisng the latest FW Took over 8 minutes to complete !!!

With Manual FES enabled using the very same disk using the same drives, on the fly took a little over 3 minutes !

That is a good big 5 minutes or so difference?

Any Idea why the gap is soooo ! Much ! is something special being done to the disk when the Auto FES is used?

Any thing to clear this out would be much appreciated.

It is a bug, sorry. Next version will fix it. But there is an easy workaround:

Right click on the writer. Select "Settings". A window opens. Click "OK". Now you can burn.
(This applies for all writers which became "incompatible" with CCD4 BETA 9)

You only have to do this once. If you exit CloneCD and start it again, you don't need to do this "trick" again.
