My back-up only works in my WRITER

I used CloneCD 4.0.0.1 to make a backup of Civ 3 in my Lite-On LTR32123s with the SafeDisc (2) [no AWS] profile and ended up with a back-up that my writer reads just fine as an original but my reader (a Creative Labs CD-5233E-N) doesn't recognize. This seems to be opposite of other threads I've read where people can't get the writer to recognize the back-up but have no problem using their readers. Anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks!

Some games can only be run from the drive the are installed from. Dont know about Civ 3 in particular but this might be the cause of your problem.

FlyingDutchman,

Thanks for the thought. In this case, the game was originally installed on drive D (the Creative reader). My writer is drive E (The Lite-On writer) so that doesn't seem to match up.

[Edit:]

You may be right afterall. I went back and tried to play Civ 3 with the back-up. Autorun brought the spalsh screen up and offered me the option to play. I hit play and the game launched but then quickly requested that I insert the Civ 3 disc to play. Since I had the back-up in drive E (my writer) and my reader (drive D) doesn't recognize the back-up disc I was unable to play. I put in the original as a double check and then the game fired right up.

Sooo... Either your theory is correct and I must have the disc in the drive the game was installed from or the CloneCD back-up has other issues...

Well, what kind of media did you use? Perhaps you wrote the disc at too high of a speed?
