I had no problems with a Plextor 2410A using the following setting.

Read
Speed Max
Fast Error Skip enabled

Fast Error Skip settings
0
Software

Write
8x
Buffer Underrun Protection checked
Write Mode: RAW DAO
Always close last Session checked

with a liteon you can write at max speed.
(if your media can handle 32x ...)

Is there any way to find out without taking the drive out for the TLA#?

Edit: Found this in my system information. 17BE08B

40x, not sure on the ripping speed.

Plex 24+ & LITEON 24+ settings for SD are:

Read at max: Fast Error Skip (click Settings & click Default - then leave it - it's set & forget!)

Write at max RAW-DAO: close...& buffer...ticked

That's All!

btw - use decent media

I'm not sure myself, but I wasn't able to make a successful one using the "Read SubChannel data" and fast-error skip on. It won't read from Sector 811- about 10350 or so. When I load the copy after burning it, it loads the first image, and then craps out saying please re-enter the disc and restart the application. I have a feeling I'm going to be going through a lot of CD-R's.
Next I am going to enable the "Hide CD-R media" because from what I've read, it appears to be the ATIP error. (I don't have a CD-ROM, only a writer.) I will try loading it from a CD_ROM though to deduce this theory.

Like I posted in your thread the errors are supposed to be there. They're part of the protection. Playing with Hide CDR Media is a must when using a CD-RW drive. It won't work otherwise...
