Lite On writer gone slower using clone

Recently wiped my computer and reloaded software.

However since doing this everything using clone cd has gone slower.

It takes 20 mins to write a vcd at 12 speed (used to take around 7 mins) and takes 15 mins to write a pc game at 8 speed (used to also be around 7 mins).

Tried different media - Verbatim, Traxdata & Nugen.

System spec as follows;
P4, 1.4 processor windows ME operating system
256 ddr memory
lite-on 40125s writer, firmware ZS0P
Clone version 4.2.0.2

When I use nero disk times were as they were before.

Clone was quicker before I wiped hard drive though I did use previous version of clone cd.

My mate though has got a P3, 1.0 processor with windows ME, SAME WRITER, SAME CLONE VERSION and his can write the speeds I used to get.

Any suggestions?

Do you have DMA enabled? In 2k/XP DMA isn't enabled out of the box which means you must enable it. to enable it go to the device magager, select IDE ATA/ATAPI controller, right click on primary IDE channel, properties, advanced settings, and make sure it the drop down boxs say DMA if available. Repeat process for secondary IDE channel.

Went into settings and there was no tick in DMA settings for writer or dvd rom so put ticks in all applicable drives and then re-booted.

However problem still not solved.

Did same vcd disk and again same problem - disk written at 12 speed took 20 minutes.

Thanks for help so far but just tried that and still no luck - still takes along time burning disks.

My mate said it could be to do with the ide cables and how they are connected to writer / hard drive.

What is the best way to have them?
