clony xxl does not say it has any protection so I turned everything on with clonecd.
Problem is that the installation works fine and the movie at the beginning when you play works fine, but when you select a campaign the computer will hang. This problem comes back with all the drives I tested it with.

All the settings on except for "regenerate data, "intelligent bad sector scanner" and "fast error skip"

btw. I get a spindown at the end of the reading process, why is this?

Read is data subs & regenerate. Write is all off except buffer underrun. Spindown? Your FW to blame or the bad copy - dunno!

Should Jay Sea check off "Don't Repair Subchannel Data" for Securom?

regenerate data should not be turned on with ccd4.0.1.10 but strangly it should be turned on with ccd4.1.0.9
Why should the data be regenerated, because with securom there are no unreadable data sectors?

just use the securom profile and the copy will work.
I used my ltr40125S oc'ed to VS02 (@48125W). Now my backups work like a charm.

Sven Rhode, the elby test horse , found that the 24102B, among others, gave very unreliable results using 4.0.1.9 against WC3 & NWN. The Regenerate feature, I'm guessing, 'fixed' unreliable sub reads

but this was fixed in 4.0.1.10? right?
So in 4.0.1.10 you don't need to use this option, or did I miss something.

Owners such as philamber are now OK - default is OK. Owners like me still have to use a custom profile

Yep, I'm ok , but I suspect I'm in the minority, at least so far as Ltr-24102B owners are concerned.

Jay Sea, if the Game CD profile works for you, fine, but if it doesn't, try the new custom Lite-on securerom profile available from the profiles sticky. That profile should work with the majority of Lite-on writers.

warcraft 3

I have and LTR24102B Lite-On. Up to now I have been able
to burn everything. I am having trouble with Warcraft 3 though.
I tried the Securom profile with CCD.
Any other ideas? Thanks

P.S. I am new to CCD - I usually use Blindwrite.

Try the special Lite-on securerom new profile and if that doesn't work, try disabling read subs from audio tracks.

Alternatively try using a different reader if you have one that can read subs. The problem that most 24102B owners have is in getting a good raw image rather than in burning it.

The 24102B can usually do it with a custom profile. Try my suggestions. You'll probably succeed.

In any case, I wouldn't be in an enormous hurry to upgrade my writer. I would prefer to wait to see if any writer can cope with the very latest version of securerom (on Neverwinter Nights 1.21 & 1.22) since, presumably all future securerom protected cds will have that version or an upgrade from it, and it would be silly to spend the money on a new burner just to back up 1 cd.

However, if you really want to upgrade your burner now, both the 40x and 48 x Asus writers are reported to handle WCIII with ease (and both are apparently very fast safedisc 2 rippers).

Warcraft 3

OK I tried using the Lite-On Securom (New) - I assume I nned to
use this both on read and then on the write. I have the following set:

[CloneCD ReadPrefs]
ReadSubData=0
RegenerateData=1
ReadSubAudio=0
AbortOnReadError=0
FastErrorSkip=0
ReadSpeedData=0
ReadSpeedAudio=0
IntelligentBadSectorScan=0
SectorSkip=100
NoErrorReport=0
FirstSessionOnly=0
AudioQuality=0
[CloneCD WritePrefs]
DontRepairSubchannelData=0
AlwaysCloseLastSession=1
AmplifyWeak=0
WriteSpeed=0

I was able to do an install from this copy. But then when I went to run it I got the following:

PLEASE VERIFY THAT YOUR WARCRAFT III DISC IS IN YOUR CR DROM DRIVE THEN CLICK RETRY.

Any further thoughts.

I am using the Lite-On LTR24102B for both read and write. Thanks.

mschiff,

You need to change "ReadSubData=0" to "ReadSubData=1".
In order to copy securerom new with your writer you will probably need both ReadSubData and RegenerateData checked.

However, ReadSubData must be checked no matter what other options are checked and no matter what reader/writer you use.

Warcraft 3 & LTR24102B

Ok I tried with "ReadSubData=1" and RegenerateData=1 checked. With these options I could not get the CD to install.

At least with ReadSubData=0 I could install.

I thought I read somewhere the Securom installs something
in the windows directory I might need to remove.
Can anyone comment on this?

Has anyone copied (Backup of course) WC3 with Blindwrite?

Since Im new to CCD - must I use the profile both on the read and write? Thanks for all the help.

Throwing in the towel

Can anyone give me a specific model number of a CDRW
that will burn WC3. AN earlier thread mentions the ASUS 40 and 48X writers but I would be much more comfortable with a
specifi model number. I will order, test and let you all know the
results. Thanks

See the section on AWS in the CloneCd faq .
The workaround to enable AWS if you live in the US or Japan also enables hide cd media.
