| @ liquidmetal Okay, you have twisted my arm long enough I am going to d/l & try out Alcohol 120% 3 ?'s though 1) Does Alcohol have to be on the PC that the game is played on? 2) Should I make an image with alcohol or will my CCD image (I have a cue sheet made) be good enough? 3) Is it really just acouple of clicks & is it easy to choose the correct settings for a SafeDisc2.8 read/burn? CCD & Fireburner settings are real easy. DiscJuggler was a nightmare. Ow, Ow, Ow... you can stop twisting now. You have me onboard!!! ![]()

2=alcohol, but ccd image will work I have heard 3=yes, see how to use alcohol which has: -------------------------------------- ALCOHOL 120% 1. After starting the program and inserting the cd to be copied into your chosen reader (note: for the time being, use your writer as the reader; owing to a minor bug in the trial program safedisc reading speed is appalling with my Ltd-163 but is quite acceptable with my Ltr-24102b; the programmer is aware of the problem and is working on fixing it), click on Copy Wizard. 2. At the next screen select your reader and reading speed and select Safedisc 2 as the Datatype to set the appropriate reading method. Then click next. 3. At the next screen, you will be asked to specify an image name and a destination directory. The defaults already selected are OK so just click next. 4. At the next screen, select your recorder, make sure Bypass EFM Errors is unchecked (otherwise, correct write settings for safedisc 2 will already have been set by the program), and then click Start . 5. Reading will then commence and on the screen displayed there will be an indication of progress and of the reading errors encountered. 6. When reading finishes you will be prompted to insert a blank cd into your writer. Do so and writing will commence as soon as the blank disc is detected. 7. When writing is completed the burnt cd will be ejected and a message that writing is completed will be displayed. Click OK on that message box, click Finish in the main program and you're done. -------------------------------------- Let us know your results!

2) Image created by CloneCD is sufficient. Do *NOT* use the cue sheet. Alcohol can use the CCD image directly and the cue sheet might screw things up. 3) Yes, it was easy! I tried it, so should you!

| OLD NEWS & LATE MAIL EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION CloneCD + ASUS will defeat SD2.8x - this is well known (using "Ignore"). A number of Liteys have done it, too; like some Plex 24x & 40x (use the search, as Tax would say). It will also give you a working backup using Emulate. If you don't want the emu code on youe CD-R, then use something else - again, a no-brainer. Every burning app, except DiscJuggler, emulates some SD2.8x sectors - get used to it. Just because you don't have to check "Emulate" somewhere in your app, doesn't mean it's not emulating anyway. I have deleted some posts from this thread - apologies to liquid metal - but it's the CloneCD Forum not the "I recommend Alcohol" or "I recommend BAO Forum" - OK? If someone asks a question, answer it or put up. The stickys are clear enough.

| I got ! I got this ! I had success make a working backup CD of this game ! I used: 1) DiscDump 1.1 to make the images (SafeDisc profile) 2) Nero to write the images to backup CD´s... 2.1) In Nero, used the following options: 2.1.1) Disc-at-once/96 2.1.2) Write speed: 4x Work very well on every PC. No need of extra app to install and run the game... My hardware: LG CDRW CED-8120B to write. LG CD-DVD DRD-8160B to read. |

| i have recently updated my clonyxxl version to 2.0.1.2, my clonecd version is 4.2.0.1, and my CD writer is LG GCE-8160B, i used the earlier version of clonyxxl to find the copy protection of MOHspearhead and came up with safedisc V2.51 i think, but any how i used the safedisc profile in clonecd with read speed and 4x and write speed at something like 16x, but created a perfect 1:1 working copy of the game as did i with sim city 4 using the same safedisc 2.51 profile in clone cd, its only now since i updated my clonyxxl version to the latest realised it was safedisc2.8, so what i am trying to say is safedisc protection is all in your head, The End this is a true story |

| Hello, I'm trying to make a backup copy of Impossible Creatures with the downloaded evaluation program but I do not see the "Protected game profile". Can someone please tell me where that option exists? It seems to be running forever... over 30 minutes now with 0%??? Any help would be appreciated! Last edited by nixus; 24-02-2003 at 19:40. |

I have heard that changing CP/International settings/locale to Canada will help or you can use a Tool linked via the FAQ. The errors are normal; you can mitigate against them by emplying some tips, also in the FAQ e.g. Daemon Tools 'Fastdump' or a reader that can easily cope with the SD2 errors

| Hello, Thanks for answering. This is all new to me. Evidently, I'm doing something wrong. I cancelled the operation yesterday because I wanted to play the game. I started it again before I went to bed and when I go up this morning it was only at 19% and had been running for over seven hours! Hmm... guess I need to do some more research. Maybe it's my burner, a TDK 48X. Any ideas? Thanks again! |
