i'm.... kiiiiinda noob, help please with CloneCD

Hey guys,
i tried using virtual cd yesterday and it just MESSED my computer up.
but my friend suggested clone cd and daemon tools to make an image or something so i dont need to keep finding cds to play games right?
i WOULD ask my friend but he's not online now and i was hoping someone would be able to help me out here. and cause i've never posted a msg before on a website thing. ok, now here's the problem. =)

i used clone cd, made an image file of broodwars. just fine. took like.. 12 minutes. (yes, i still play broodwars)

now, i'm trying to make an image of command and conquer generals and it's been like... 30 minutes, and only at like... 3 % done. it's taking AGES and going really slowly.

same thing happened with Battlefield 1942 and i just cancelled that one earlier. any suggestions? is this normal?

and what is that safedisc i see in threads once in a while.
- the noob

Welcome to cdfreaks jonshaw ,

first of all SafeDisc is a Copy Protection developed by Macrovision. C&C Generals (SafeDisc 2.8) and Battlefield 1942 (SafeDisc 2.60) are both protected by SafeDisc. So creating a '1:1' backup of these games needs at least a 2sheep burner try the Sheep Test Guide to know how many sheeps your CDRW drive got. Using the SafeDisc profiles depends on your CDRW drive so do the sheep test or just list the all your optical drives to decide which one is the best for your hardware.

hey, i tried using the sheep test, but .... i get stuck.
when it says
"I am using Nero to burn this test file. To get to this screen, start up Nero and hit the New button or new under File. Here you need to select Start MultiSession Disc. Then click the ISO tab. "

i can't click multisession disc. like, i can see it, but it's grey'd out and on no multisession... =(

Don't know jonshaw, never got this problem and I'm not at home at the moment to take a look at it. What's your CDRW drive?

Re: i'm.... kiiiiinda noob, help please with CloneCD

wow, this is so complex. i remember i had a program looong time ago where i just used it to install the game and that was it.
for this stuff, i've downloaded daemon tools, clone cd, alcohol, profiles for clone cd, sheep test. and i'm still lost. =)

how do you find out what game requires what profile?

Re: i'm.... kiiiiinda noob, help please with CloneCD

I didn't find any information about your drive regarding to the 'sheeps'. But it seems the optorite drives are not good EFM encoders. So I would recommend using SafeDisc 2 [Amplify].ccp profile as your CDRW drive can be a 0sheep drive, but I'm not sure about this the sheep test would verify how many sheeps you got. Ago of Empires is protected by SafeDisc 1.5 so it shouldn't be a big problem to create a working backup. Good luck .

p.s. use a CDRW so you can test if your backup is working.

edit: it's protected by SafeDisc 1.3 not 1.5 sorry for this
