How can I back up my old Encyclopedia? I purchased an Encyclopdia in 1999 (The Encyclopedia of Nature) which was translated to hungarian language from english (now this CD can not be bought). The last days the CD reader makes some retries during reading. So I wanted to backup because I think it will be damaged. Nero was not able to copy it. I tried CloneCD and chosed the PC Game (and Protected PC game) to copy it. For my surprise the copy works if it was installed from the original CD, but if I install it from the backup it does not work. I realised that during install it couldnot copy a file fromthe backup and it break the install. That file is redable from the original, but not fromthe backup. I do not want to try every parameter combination in the profile. CLONY XL says that the CD has "ProtectCD VOB" (type mixed CD)protection, but when I try the offered parameters for it, the back up does not work. Have you any idea? Thank you in advanced.

Re: How can I back up my old Encyclopedia? You are right. So there is a PX-W4824TA Plextor CD writer and a GSA4082B (LG) type DVD writer in my PC. I tried to copy it with the Plextor writer because I have heared that it is better for CD copy. I use CloneCD 4.2.0.2 . The Encyclopedia can be run on Win3.1 or higher (it is the translation of the old Dorling Kindersley Encyclopedia). According to CLONY it has 51 tracks, illegal TOC, dummy files and ProtectCD VOB protection. Seing the backup it has the same TOC as the original one but something is wrong with it. If you need other information I support it. Thank again for your help. Sorbit_4

Re: How can I back up my old Encyclopedia? No problem but also make sure you have the latest version of CloneCD 5.2.9.1 and AnyDVD 6.0.8.2 and if you have CloneDVD2 2.9.0.1 all from slysoft. There have been other spinoff using their names but just check http://www.slysoft.com and they show you the latest version they have. If you want to test the trail they have that as well and if you want to buy it they have that as well. But as I must remind users of slysoft software makes sure you have the latest version and if you must at least have AnyDVD along with either of those package for improve copying.
