Got a GameCube?

Slide a GameCube game into your computer (and hold shift so it doesn't auto start) and try to just READ it to your HD. I can copy any game to date (except tages and starforce) but I got so many errors in CloneCD from the disk, my head was spinning! Geez whats on this thing!

I would have thought what with Game Cube using proprietry discs, and not standard CD / DVD's, then that would explain why there are so many errors. Just a guess though.

What's on it? Dunno, but it's not a "CD-ROM" of any Colored Book Standard. It's not going to be read using the MMC instructions LOL

The GameCube uses mini DVD's right? They can hold about 1.5GB max. There's no way to read them with CloneCD and even if it did work: you can't buy 8cm mini DVD's.

Once again Nintendo managed to halt piracy (and legal backups) in a very efficient way.

No copy-protection scheme needed...

You might want to check it out with DVD specific burning software, as the software installs DVD support onto your PC.

...However even if you get a successful read, burning to a CD will not work as there are none with that kind of capacity; and although they have MD technology in asia we won't see it here for a while yet. Least not until the current standard has milked ya for every cent it can get outta ya

I think there is a MD player from Panasonic that has a USB/FW port. If ya can get it past customs (avoiding the walloping tax on it hehe) then theres your reader. Clone should be able to write it, as I said, long as you have installed OS support for MMC-3+ devices (usually found in DVD writing software).

Course...this is all academic 'coz what I seen on dem disks ain't DVD by any standard! 'spose thats what you comes with perfecting cart technology...smart data trafficing. Anyway, will share what I learn, when I get around to learning it...

this reminds me

this reminds me of the dreamcast cds called gd-rom they were totally out of specs.the only way to copy the game was to port your dreamcast to your pc and rip the game ,but the rip could only be played in emulation.same thing applies to the gamecube games!

Or better, leave the tray out and double click your way through so that CloneCD can take control before the OS. It's a tip in the Help File
