Well, I gave up trying to make a back up with my Plex. All those coasters and not enough beers was way to depressing. So Essential computer in NYC had a Lite-on 24102B in black for $95 so I picked one up. Now I know if I dig here I can find the needed info out for myself but I'm sure someone out there can put it all in one basket for me. First I'm running Windows Xp pro, reading with a Toshiba 1612. I reside in the States so is the AWS a must? I already have the latest version of clone in so will I have to clean the reg if I reinstall? Also if someone out there has the same hardware as me, if you could tell me what I should have checked and unchecked on the read and the write, and what speed, it would be a big help. I really don't feel like making anymore coasters. On another note, I made two succesful bac ups of MOHAA on my AMD machine using a Toshiba 1402 and a Acer 12 speed burner running Windows Me. Since then I installed Windows Xp. I wasn't even sure of what version of Clone I had installed at the time because I have been saving all of the old versions and didn't upgrade to often. I even put a clean HD in the thing with Me installed. I tried everthing to duplicate what I did to make another working copy and I had no luck. That really kicked my butt. That's what pushed me to get the Lite on so I'll stop buying all this beer.

• Disable IMAPI (CP/Admin Tools/Services/IMAPI
• Disable built-in burning software (device/properties)
• Read the ASPI articles (veeeerrrryyy important) I have linked in the two posts linked above
• UDMA enabled
• latest chipset drivers
• 80 wire/40 pin IDE cables
• blah blah - it's all in the sticky posts in this forum
• lotsa work for success

Ok everyone, I'm going to vent here. First off I would like to apologize that I couldn't have been more help solving this problem. I am not nearly as knowledgable as some of the people that spend time here at this forum. My hats off to all of you that have a damn good idea of what your doing. Don't get me wrong, I'm no dumb_ _ _. I built all three computers in my house and am working on my A+ and N+, but some of you people are really gifted. The thing that's killing me here is I played and finished MOHAA using a back-up that I made in my own computer. I not only did this once, but twice. Once with an Acer and once with a plextor, reading with a Toshiba both times. I had Windows Me installed at the time and I have no idea what version of clone I was using. I reached a point where I never had a problem burning anything and didn't screw with it. After I installed Xp I could not burn MOHAA anymore. Also, I tried using Me again and still had no luck. Something flew right past me and I have know idea of what it was. I already finished the MOHAA using a back-up before I ever even joined this forum. Like I said, I never had a problem. I didn't even do anyhting special when I made the copies. I always checked both subs and that was it. No beta blocker or patches or anything else for that matter. I backed up C&C, Max P, etc, etc, and never gave it a second thought. All that I can say is Oliver better pick up on what I missed before someone else does who isn't pro clone. Once again, sorry all I have is one of those "the one that got away stories" But it's all I have, besides my two working back-ups and a crap load of coasters. I'm still trying to ge my lite-on to make a copy and that's not working out well either if you know what I mean. Time to drink more beer, DK.

Your problem is XP & the ASPI, that's probably all. Fix that & you'll be fine
