Did ya know there's 2 CloneDVDs

I just got a Plextor PX-708A for xmas, so the other day I was busy downloading software so I can start burning some dvd's. In the many web sites I visited I was on 2 different CloneDVD sites one from elaborate bytes thats the one with the sheep as it's logo & other was from clonedvd.net & it has a disc for it's logo.
Does anyone know of this???? Basically the one from the .net is a do everything type decrypts & burns, similiar to DVD X Copy.
The one from elby. doesn't have a decryptor. but there is a big difference in price $150.00 on sale for $100.00 US funds for the CloneDVD.net & the 2 sheeper (I call it that) is only $50.00. Can anyone who has more experience with this type of software please look into this & tell which one is better & explain why.

Clonedvd.net is a piece of shit (and so is DVDXCopy)! Check out this thread or do a search on "Clonedvd.net". Use DVDShrink because it does the same job for free.

Forgot to add.....
Go for the ELBY one and use it with DVD Decrypter if you don't like the freeware alternative
End edit//

although I am not a user of either, one of my friends is happy about the capapbility of DVDxCopy being able to bypass copy protected DVD's and for its smoother playback. Also, the resulting copy is of much higher quality. ConeDVD, from elby, crapped out stating that the DVD is copy protected and it coudl not copy it. So why do you say its a POS? Just inquiring..

The company sounds a bit shady when it released "DVD Copy Plus" since there were many comments concerning that it is a compliation of freeware programs.
What concerns me the most is that the program marks your backup, which can be traced (a bad thing if backup gets stolen and distributed).

"Warning: This is an archival backup copy of a DVD, created solely
for the private and personal use of the owner of the DVD from which it was
made. Federal copyright laws prohibit the unauthorized reproduction,
distribution, or exhibition of copyrighted materials, if any, contained in
this archival backup copy. The resale, reproduction, distribution, or
commercial exploitation of this archival backup copy is strictly forbidden.

xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxx"

Why pay $ when you can get freeware and read tutorials to make your own backups? Sure it takes time, but it is a good learning experience (try building your own computer instead of buying one from Dell or Gateway). I don't know if its just me, but I really hate software that is simplified (Roxio EZCD Cremator=CD burning for dummies). I like complexity (just my opinion, but you get the idea ).

BTW Hope there are others that share this.

You have nothing to worry about as long as your not passing out your copies, it's that simple and it's against the law anyway.

Your mission should you choose to except it it to do some research since you made some assumptions that aren't true, One of these companies in this forum develope the burning engine for 321 studios see if you can find out which one, there is nothing shady about 321 studios, they give up way to much money and support your right to back-up the stuff you own. They are currently fighting for your rights in the USA and UK.

Some people like easy and some don't, My father who is in his late 60's prefers easy point and click, Xcopy Xpress provides that unlike something like dvd decrypter or dvd shrink where you have to know what files you need and want, XCopy Xpress knows what he wants without asking. Insert DVD press start, wait reading done insert blank dvd press start... wait your dvd is done, now take it to your home player where it will more than likley work the first time because he didn't select the wrong file or files. So easy does have a place. And I don't get a whole bunch of phone calls asking "ok what now"

Oh yes and you can always goto the sly-soft site and download anydvd that will let you make back-ups of your dvd's with clonedvd of course, they go hand in hand if you want to make back-ups of protected dvd's

Look at http://www.slysoft.com

There is a Programm called "AnyDVD", it removes all protections from a DVD without save it to HD!

You can Rip protected DVDs >on the fly< with Pinaccle Studio or something else!
