CM4 copying with CloneCD,Twinpeak + Blindwrite

Many thanks to everyone who posted on here about how to defeat the securom protection for CM4 especially philamber- i have finally done it! Making the BWA file in a straight graph was the hardest bit, and incidently if anyone else is having problems at low speeds as i did, try doing it on 48 or MAX: i got the smoothest graph doing this on my liteon DVD drive.

I dont know how to post a file on these pages (or if its allowed

, but i would be happy to share the bwa file for Championship Manager 4 if anyone is having real probs making one. maybe an administrator could let me know?

cheers

UT2003 Patch 2225 - No CD Check!

With patch 2225, UT2003 no longer checks the CD. I am very glad I have a working copy, but I am even happier to keep it safely filed away and save my CD drive from abuse!

I figured since so many of us are struggling to make copies and save our original CD from death, that this news would be very helpful in this forum.

Thanks again to Philamber for such a good explanation, especially the debunked myths.

Problem in the Installation

Hi,

Philamber, I made what you said to backup a game with the securem 4.8 (Championship Manager 4), and I think that everything is okay, but when I try to install the game, the installation stucks in 3%.

What should I do, Can that be because of my DVD or CDRW both LG??

Thanks

For most securom titles, you cannot use the copied CD for installation. Essentially, you need to make 2 copies. First, a copy with normal cloneCD settings for game CDs - used for installation. Second, a copy with BWA profile applied - used to load the game and satisfy securom check.

I thought the instructions already specified this information.

OLI

I have made a one disc working copy of CM4 by using PhilAmber's method and it installs and runs perfectly happily. sticking at 3% could be the result of a poor BWA graph (this happenned to me too till i got a good BWA graph).

message me if u want a hand doing CM4 dark panther - altho i would suggest some trial and error first

I tried copying my first SecuRom NEW game using this tutorial. I used an Asus 4816A, (Read & Write) using the default settings just as instructed. I downloaded the BWA from The CCD Forums.

The game I tried to copy was Enter The Matrix. The game crashed upon Install when using the 4th (and FINAL) CD. 'CRC Redundancy Error' blah blah something. All I could do was quit.

I tried installing from the burner AND my Toshiba 1502. Same result. Any ideas?

Not surprising that you've got installation problems since both Asus and Tosh drives tend to choke on the twin sectors when installing.

If those are your only 2 physical drives, you'll either have to install from the original (you probably should do so anyway) or make a separate installation copy of the play cd without using twinpeak patching (i.e. just copy it with anything without special settings).

Use the separate non-twinpeaked copy to install and the twinpeaked copy to play.

(If you still have the Ltr-24102b on system 1 as indicated in your sig, you shouldn't have any problems installing from that drive. Don't know about the LG burner on system 2 of your sig though.)

OK I did what you suggested. I created an unpatched copy, and used it to install. Installed fine. I then put the patched copy in when it came time to play the game. It took approx. 30 seconds to 'verify' the CD, but it did actually boot up.

Just curious. Does this method still work with the likes of secuROM 4.85.07.0151 ?

I have tried to make a backup of Hidden and Dangerous 2. The BWA graph is perfection and I have patched the CCD image ok. However when burning the image at 19% I get a media error from CloneCD. I tried it several times with different media but still at 19% it falls over. Any ideas?

Also what is the best current way of creating a working backup of the new securoms?

Thanks in advance

AFAIK, yes.

Sounds like there's something seriously wrong with your image. Try re-imaging and re-patching at a lower speed.

IMO, unless you have a plex premium, this one. (It's never failed me. )

It seems like the tutorial has been removed...or do I need to take myself down to an optician to get myself checked out!?

Where is it!?

Thanks.
