It seems to me you are using two burners. Maybe even one to play the game. Make sure you have the autostart menu open for clone 4. Click the HIDE CDR MEDIA tab so it has a check mark. This way you will be able to play the game using your burner. It you had a regular CD Rom this would not effect you.

Okay.. here is my problem...

I have a Hewlett Packard 9500 Series CD-Writer. I have a lot of success with CloneCD & ClonyXXL. But recently, I've had some problems backing up my 2002 Fifa World Cup. I use the ClonyXXL to determine the protection & the best way to copy it. I copy it, and everything seems fine. I can install the game perfectly, until I want to play it. I start the game, but it sorta hangs while its loading the game. The CD-Rom them stops spinning and the loading screen is still there (fortunatly the I can close the loading screen).

What went wrong? Is it my CD-Writer?

P.S. I've downloaded all the profiles, but I think they will be meaningless to me. I am not too sure what sort of protection a cd will have. Is there a way of knowing what sort of protection your up against without ClonyXXL (it doesn't see the protection on Warcraft III)

RadRadford,

If your Fifa 2002 has SafeDisc 2 you may as well call it quits. NO HP Burner will burn any games with that protection. I have a HP 9310, could do some games but none when it came to SafeDisc 2. Best Burner to get LITEON 40x12x48, it does everything. I even backed up a copy of Ghost Recon Desert Shield and it had SafeDisc 2.51, got it first copy. You can copy with the HP you can install with the HP but you can't play with the HP. You can get a LITEON here http://www.essencompu.com/nupplysingar.asp?ID=1768. It will cost you $80 delivered. I ordered on a Tuesday night at 1130pm, and got it on Thursday by 2pm. Best buy I ever made. Good Luck.

I'm thinking about buying a Sony CRX195A1 40X CD-RW drive. Does this drive burn disks that have SafeDisk2 protection and will I need to enable AWS? Anyone have any good or bad reviews of this drive? Thanks in advance.

Buy a Liteon drive 32x12x40 you dont need too enable aws and you can burn 98 mins of data on Infinity Pro 99 min CD's with no probs, not many other writers can match that. I have tested it and found if you try and burn a little over 99mins say 30 seconds it will not be able too close the session but you are able too still read from the CD. I try and keep within the specs of the cd, say 98/99mins no xtra seconds and it works ok.

At the end of the day its your choice I am just trying too offer constructive advice. You can buy the drive from www.dabs.com

Nope. The patch for WC3 doesn't have the same problems as the patch for NWN.

So, if i'm not mistaken NWN is 3 discs and are they all protected? I'm asking because here allmost all shops are closed and the only 3 shops open don't have the game. Is it possible that they are trying to introduce a copy protection based on some psx experience?

No not really. The latest patch for NWN seems to check software installed in your computer and if you have installed CloneCD for instance the game will refuse to run. This doesn't look like PSX protection to me. However when you do not install the patch for NWN you can copy and play the game just fine! I've been playing from a back-up and it works fine as long as CloneCD's Hide CDR Media is enabled. NWN and WCIII just use an improved SecuRom protection which requires a reliable Subs reading (which is a problem for some Lite-on drives). Nothing special really. To my knowledge all three discs of NWN are protected but I've only back-upped disc 3 since this is the play disc and used the most.

Nope FlyingDutch... Plextor doesn't need a different Profile. You can read some of my tests with Neverwinter Nights here. All Plextor writers that could read the Subs made a working back-up.

You have to choose your desired Profile when you start a read- or writeprocess manually. This of course because different discs (audio, data, protections) require different Profiles.

A great thanks goes out too the members that have made use of my FTP site for CloneCD profiles as well the latest CDR tools for making backups of your original CD's only and should not be used for piracy etc. I have made this point, so that I keep within the rulez laid down by the Team who have one of the best forums on the net as in being amongst what is known as the Elite.

CloneCD Profiles

Quick question about the profiles. I downloaded and installed them. They show up, but here is the problem. I choose say for example safeDisc no AWS. When I get to the next screen and choose my writer I right click on it and click on settings to see if the write settings are the same as the profile describes. They are not. Even though I choose without AWS, the AWS setting is checked. Why?
