Re: SONY CDRW 160 AWS ?????

batserra, AWS stands for Amplify Weak Sectors and is needed for some writers to copy the SafeDisc 2 protectio. Your Sony needs to have AWS enabled so either use the default Game Profile (which is always recommended) or use the 'SafeDisc 2(.51) [AWS]' Profile.

For the record: the standard Game Profile in CloneCD is the best Profile. It may not be the fastest method but it's the safest method. If you want to use the best Profile, use the standard ones. The ones me and FP set-up were intended for people wanting the fastest results and should only be used for quality hardware (eg. reading is done at max speed and some writers will not work very well at the maximum speed). The ClonyXXL Profiles are also very good judging from some of the reports I've read. I have no personal experience with them

Ehh what do you mean 'make it work with Clony' ? The Profiles in this thread were meant to work without Clony. With Clony you can make extra Profiles depending on the detected copy-protection. Please be a bit more specific!

Well, when I open profile editor in clony these download wont show up because they are not in .CP format! What I mean is :
How do you change these down load into .CP format so that they will show up in clony.
Also, do I really need these profile? if I am using clony?
Thanks for helping.

@ V@A

Default settings for Error Skip are indeed recommended.

Well you can try renaming the files but the ClonyXXL Profiles are als in the .ccp format here (_ClonyXXL.ccp) Why would you want to edit them anyway? There's no need to as long as you use them for what they were intended for (the right Profile for the right protection). You can keep using ClonyXXL to detect the used copy-protection on a disc. There's no need to stop using the program.

So you mean Clony's profile has all different setup for all different type of protection?
Every time I run clony, I scan disk to reveal the protection type then click run cloneCD. According to clony instruction that all I need to do, clonCD then will use the appropriate clony profile for that cd. Have I done it right?
Thanks for helping

Yeah, that should work. Just remember that when at the screen for choosing the profile, click on the clony profile and not the game cd one. It should read "_ClonyXXL". Click on that and you are done.

Hmm yes this can be a problem. I've added a zip file to the post so you can now download all Profiles at once. Check out the first page

Well normally you only need to worry about AWS with the Lite-On writers. The latest CloneCD v4.0.1.3 (just like older versions but this wasn't perfect) uses hardware dependant AWS settings. When you right click on your writer you can disable AWS. Normally AWS will have been disabled for Lite-On (and other fully EFM capable writers). Even when AWS is enabled in a Profile, it won't be used if it has been disabled for the writer. The idea behind this is that you can set AWS for your writer once (this is normally done automatically) and forget about it. You can then use the same Profiles for non, semi and full EFM compatible writers.

The Protect CD Read Profile has been added to the thread and Zip-file. Thanks goes to FutureProof for creating the Profile. Feedback? Does it work correctly? Please post below!

You DON'T need AWS, so right click your burner in CloneCD and choose Settings. Tickle off that AWS box.
