I wonder if I could ask your help with CloneDVD. A lot of the time I use CloneDVD, it writes the files, but freezes when it is supposed to begin writing to the media. It just says "setting up, erasing" and doesn't go any further. The DVD Rom drive light blinks and the hard drive light stays on solid. Most of the time, I reboot the system and it works after that.

In an effort to remedy this problem, I have swapped DVD drives to ensure that it isn't a hardware problem. I have also performed a complete system restore to verify that it wasn't a software conflict. In addition, I have uninstalled AnyDVD and CloneDVD, and reinstalled them in an attempt to fix the problem.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

Can you give more details about your machine? What drives do you have and how are connected (I'm referring to master/slave settings)?

Do you have 80-wires IDE cables? What IDE drivers do you have installed on your computer?

What media are you using? A low quality media can cause such problems.

Do you have this problems only with clonedvd or anytime you try to burn something with any burning software?

My machine is a T6524. I've had very good luck with it. When I first got CloneDVD, it worked great. You mentioned media. I had great luck with Imation disks. I ran out of them and bought Phillips (they weren't good at all), then I bought Sony's, they seemed to be okay. As far as the master/slave setup, I think the DVDRom is Master and the CDRom is slave, but I'm not totally sure. Also, I'm really not sure about my IDE cables, I'd have to open the machine to find out. I don't know if it will help, but I've posted my system specs below.

Check if DMA is enabled, and also what IDE drivers are installed on your system.
