It would be terrible for CloneClinic to be shut down. I wonder if this has anyhting to do with pressure from some company, or just EZBoard itself doesn't like it.

As long as everyone keeps respecting the rules there will be no problem. (saves me some work too )

But seriously, as I understood CloneClinic was hosted on EZBoard, a free service dependent on third party advertising (popups). This forum is run on a leased server somewhere in the Netherlands with a reliable hosting provider.

As long as the management is able to pay the bills (keep clicking those banners ), it will be very unlikely for this forum to close. CD Freaks does not participate in any illegal activities and here in the Netherlands they aren't as paranoid as in the US when it comes to this.

But I cannot look into the future and tell you what is ahead of us. However, I am very confident we can keep this forum running without having to worry about the authorities closing us down.

So please feel free to ask your questions here, we have great experts moderating the forums here.

Enjoy your stay!

Hm, I'm glad it was shut down, now they have to look for another board which hopefully hasn't got as many popups as the former one. It was really driving me insane sometimes.

I don't understand because as far as I know they were strict on the rules of illegal activity.

This is not the first time that CC has been shut down and it won't be the last unless they lodge in a friendly country. Sony was responsible for pulling the plug last time and I suppose they were responsible for this one too. It won't take long for them to get back up again, somewhere soon.

Re: CloneClinic Shutdown by EZBoard

Hopefully CloneClinic will relocate and continue to provide its traditional excellent service to the CloneCD community. If and when it does relocate I hope that the administrators of the CDfreaks forum will provide its members with a link to the new location of this equally excellent CloneCD forum.

It doesn't make sense really. As long as the program itself is legal, how can it be a forum about the program has to shut down? Pretty weird if you ask me! :S

Because the program itself can be used for illegal activities, simple as that... I feel sorry for CloneClinic since it was a great place to get information. I hope they get things sorted soon.

I knew of CloneClinic which indeed had some great info.

Any other forums which can be recommended regarding CloneCD/copy-protections/etc.?

If you know german, www.brennmeister.com also has an active forum regarding these subjects.

New Forum

As I said elsewhere, if anyone wants a CloneCD forum, I created a new one at http://www.clonecentral.cjb.net.

Please let me know if you find it useful!

(It runs IkonBoard v3 - Same as the DAEMON Tools forum)

CC

I visit CloneClinic almost daily and I was very surprised yesterday when I tried to enter the forum I realized that it was locked due to piracy. In my opinion that´s completely unfair. EZboard just doesn´t like the forum and has decided to shut it down. I guess the former users of CC will move here because it seems this is one of the few forums with high technical level and enough freedom of speech, something that´s so expensive nowadays. Hello everyone and keep up the good work.

So does anyone know how long before they will be back up and running or are they all done?

Is it just Clone Clinic that has gone though? A certain other forum that I visit has been out of action since yesterday. Maybe the same thing? The C*rso*t forum?

I'm sure you do Atomic.

But if not it's Cdrso*t . I'm not going to spell it out any more than that just in case a mod or two takes exception.

Must agree with all of the above.
Was pretty surprised myself.
Does that mean i closed those thousands of pop-up-screens for nothing???!!!

Anyways, i'll be looking forward to seeing a brandnew cloneclinic and in the meanwhile i'll get to know this place a bit better.

Excellent work here too btw.

Cheers,
-Alfa-
