Clone cd cant read DVD-ROM's - Club CDFreaks

Hoi

I have purchased a Philips dvd+rw 1208 because it was listed in the list of suported drives.

I downloaded the last Clone cd version and I am running it in demo mode for testing (need to know if it works before bying).

I have the folowing problem I can make a good backup of a normal cd-rom but I cant get it to work with any dvd-rom. I keep getting the error message saying it cant read the disk in normal mode (other modes are not working as wel tried them) not in the player and or the burner I have tried it whit Nero (it was whith the burner) en than it works.

I would like to us Clone cd instead because of the great revieuws of making a backup.

Is this a known problem or are my burner/reader not suported.

You cant just 'copy' a dvd. You need to rip it off first using one of the many decrypters out there, muck around with it a little to get it down to size, and then re-author it before burning it back to dvd-r or whatever. The closest you will get to 'copying' a CSS protected dvd is via ISO mode in dvd decrypter. VOB's 'Instant CD/DVD' can burn back the ISO images it creates.

I don't want to make a backup from a movie dvd but I have a dvd (about 4GB) that I want to backup whit clone cd I already was sucsesful whith Nero but Clone cd has have to do it also if you read the list of suported recorders

Yeah, it supports your drives as a 'CD' reader / writer but CloneCD itself cannot read DVDs. The commands it uses to read a disc cannot be used for reading DVDs - or at least not with the specific settings Olli is using.

CloneCD can't read or write DVDs for one simple reason: There is no "RAW" mode for DVDs. (Hence the name CloneCD, and not CloneDVD)

You can use CloneCD to read and write CDs with your writer.

If you want an Elaborate Bytes product for copying DVDs, you have to wait a little bit more, sorry. (e.g., MakeDisc will be able to read/write DVDs)
