civilization 3 - Club CDFreaks

i'm using a plextor px-w4012a, firmware 1.05, clonecd 4.2.0.2, and plextools 1.21.

i used clonyxxl to identify civilization 3 as using safedisc 2 protection, so that's the profile i used in "ccd4 - profiler v1.1 beta". i copied the cd with clonecd. i was kinda surprised to see a bunch of seemingly random sectors, from 841 to 10036 unreadable, but it read the rest just fine, and the copy was made. now, when i try to run the game, with hide-cd-r media enabled (i've tried enabling it in both plextools, clonecd, both individually, and none), and... i can't run it, at all... any ideas as to what's wrong?

1) Civilization 3 (English) > Safedisc 2.40.010
2) Civilization 3 - Play The World > SecuRom New v-4.83.55.0004

1) is dead easy; 2) is a little more fiddly but it looks like 1) given the read errors (and the ATIP check is found in SD2.4)

Did you install the game first?
Are you playing from the installation drive?
