Burning ps2 games and other questions

1.I have an original ps2 game called "magic pengel" Scanning it with protection check software shows "psx/libcrypt". I tried burning a copy for safekeeping sake with alcohol and chose " playstation 2 games" setting. However the burned copy cannot work on my modded ps2. It keep showing "unable to read disc" And the funny thing is i tried booting it on PCSX2 a ps2 emulator it is able to to boots up to the menu at least though it can't emulates further(show that the image i created has no problem).
Any idea how i could burn a sucessful copy of this game that works on ps2 with clonecd or other program?

2.If a ps2 game is less than 700 mb in size but is yet sold on a dvd by the retailer, is it possible to make a copy of it on CDR that can plays on ps2?

3. How can i make a working copy of a pc game protected by Star Force 3 and Safe Disc 3 with clonecd?

Re: Burning ps2 games and other questions

For PlayStation 2 Games You must take the following profile:
Quote:
[CloneCD ReadPrefs]
ReadSubData=1
RegenerateData=0
ReadSubAudio=0
AbortOnReadError=0
FastErrorSkip=0
ReadSpeedData=0
ReadSpeedAudio=0
IntelligentBadSectorScan=0
SectorSkip=100
NoErrorReport=0
FirstSessionOnly=0
AudioQuality=0
[CloneCD WritePrefs]
DontRepairSubchannelData=1
AlwaysCloseLastSession=1
AmplifyWeak=0
WriteSpeed=0
then with the profile and the current CloneCD version You can put on a copy.

With CloneCD You can also copy a CD / DVD with the copy protection SafeDisc 3, but till present the copy protection StarForce 3 is not copy yet.

You still need a modchip or other boot method for your backups to work..

Why not just use dvd decrypter? It's free. Or can decrypter not make cd iso's?

dvd decryptor is good and free for dvd based games but for cd based you will need to use alcohol or clonecd as cd games are protected by libcrypt protection...
Just read and write using the datatype "playstation" in alcohol or the profile "libcrypt" in clone..

Re: Burning ps2 games and other questions

I was wondering about burnt PS2 games. I have tried to burn PS2 games with several different programs and none have worked yet. I have an action replay disk and memory card. What else would i have to buy or use? I feel like i am getting nowhere with this stuff.

Re: Burning ps2 games and other questions

Hi Jet, i'll tell you what i know, i have just bought a fliptop and swap magic 3.6 ( 2 cd's used as a boot disc instead of having to have your ps2 chipped) You can either buy a fliptop ( new casing for ps2 ) or buy a slide tool which allows u to change discs in your ps2 without using the eject button. I went with the first option as it is just easier to swop discs over with the fliptop. These can be bought for any model ps2, old or new (mine was the older larger ps2.) Basically you load up the ps2 with the boot disc then change the disc over to your backup copy of any game. Seems easy enough but as yet i haven't managed to try it out as i can't seem to copy my games with clone cd properly. I am battling on with this so if i work it out i shall let you know and give you on a rundown on what to do. Hope this is of some help.

Re: Burning ps2 games and other questions

Quick update Jet, just managed to copy a cd based ps2 game no problems (crash bandicoot, wrath of cortex) but still having no luck regarding dvd-rom based ps2 games. All i did was read it as an image file then write it from the image file using clone cd, tool about 5 mins. Used the cd swap magic boot disc, then swopped it over for the copy disc and it has loaded up fine and is working as well as the original.

Re: Burning ps2 games and other questions

Thanks I will have to look into that. I already have the action replay memory card that has a disk that causes the PS2 to eject the disc to insert the PS2 game, but when i insert a copied ps2 game it doesnt even recognize that i even put another disk in. I wonder if i am just making bad copies. Its a never ending battle.

Re: Burning ps2 games and other questions

Hello again Jet, I have managed to copy a dvd-rom based ps2 game ( Omnimusha:Warlords) I did this from trawling through virtually every post on this site (slight exagerration lol) and found it very easy after that. From what I have gathered clonecd won't copy dvd based ps2 games (please correct me if i'm wrong people!) so I used another program, Alcohol 120. There is a user on here MADMAX who has posted instructions on how to copy games using this program, (thanks very much btw MADMAX, was very helpful) To find this you go into search, type in ps2 and it will bring up all the threads relating to ps2's. Look for the one posted by MADMAX and underneath his replies to a question is a link on how to copy using ALCOHOL 120. It brings up a separate page and shows you exactly how to use the program. Hope you have some luck with this )
