Burned It, Installed It, Can't Play It!!! - Club CDFreaks

I just burned and installed The Thing CloneCD - MaXXiM. No prob. But when I go to play it...nothing happens. Do I need some sort of special settings in CloneCD? My regional setting is English-United States. I've heard that regional settings matter???

i myself had trouble with the game also.

the game loads securom new on your hdd .

download clonnyXXL then goto

CCD Settings==
PC==
securomNew

then start clonecd and use the clonyxxl profile when making the image of the thing and when burning the image of the thing.

Regional settings matter if you want to enable AWS or Hide-CDR media. Get the patch from the sticky faq on this forum. As for you problem, do you get an error message or does something else happen?

If you want to play it from your writer, you might need to hide the ATIP information from the cd-recordable by using CloneCD's 'hide cd-r' utility. Or play it in a dvd/cd-rom.

What do you mean by the Clony XXL profile. THe profile is automatically placed in the profile options of cloneCD after you scan a cd.

I get no error messages. The CD drive blinks for a while, and stops...Nothing happens!

Perhaps you can try running the game from a different drive to see if its a problem with the cd or the drive. Or maybe it could be a problem with your video card.

I burned another CD using the Securom profile (Amplify weak sectors= no). Didn't work. Any thoughts guys?

All you need to do to stop youre coaster buisness is to install the latest aspi layers:

The problem you mention was fixed on a friends Liteon 401248s when the latest aspi layer was installed

His burner came up with the same message: cant find cd

Maybe not the latest. A lot of people have had problems with the 4.71 drivers. I think the best ones so far are the 4.61 or 4.60. Get ForceASPI if you have a later version of the drivers.

I think this game has securom v3 so.....no way to copy it with cloneCD (it's writting pattern is blacklisted so...don't try it)Try different burning programs but this version i think blacklisted almost raw writting app. By now.....just wait or use your original!

Morglum007, any version of securerom (other than that used on NWN 1.21 and 1.22 which often prevented people from playing the game with their original cds) can be copied with clonecd. It's just that with new securerom new (version 3 if you prefer), it can be quite difficult with some writers that previously had no problems with securerom new (this applies especially to Lite-on writers and to the Ltr-24102b in particular).

If you read this very thread fully, you'll see that spjb has copied this game successfully with clonecd so it's obviously possible.

my Plex 24x copied this game perfectly using CloneCD 3.3.4.1
just checked off read audio and data subs to create the image.
haven't had any problems yet copying any version of securom.
my backup copy of NWN also works perfect.

In my case i have three gams with this protection: Etherlords, Soccer manager and beach life. All of them impossible to replicate with my plextor 24x. I have tried all i know and it's a lot. Warcraft III seems to have a previous securom "v3" version and i backed it up without problems. If anybody has succeed with beach life..please let me know. By know for me it's impossible to copy.(only with etherlord i succeed in making a good image that works with D-tools always)
